Consistent crashing since new firmware update

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as I am. Ever since the new firmware update my MK3S is consistently crashing up to several times per print and sometimes when it comes back it's offset by 1mm ruining the print. I've pulled my machine apart, re-tightened belts, bolts everything that I can think of that may be causing a skip in the step process but to no avail. I've also re-downloaded and re-flashed the firmware 3 separate times thinking that it may have been a corrupted file that was causing it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I started with the kit version and upgraded to the new firmware after my first test print.  My printer has been printing great with no tweaking.  I was rather surprised it was so easy to get great prints right out of the gate.  The other thing is the noise I see people complaining about.  Mine is sitting on top of a plywood cabinet with just the factory rubber feet and it is really quiet.   I converted a milling machine to CNC but this is my first printer.  I'm just wondering here.  Two things I did when building the kit that my have contributed to my great results are:  I made sure the frame was absolutely flat buy assembling it in a granite floor tile.  My Formica covered desk was not flat enough for my liking.  Second, when tightening the U-bolts that hold the bearings, tighten them just enough to remove any play between the bearing to the plate and no more than that.

I would remove the toothed belt pullies so you can move the X & Y without back-driving the motors so you can feel whether everything moves free and smooth.  If the bearings feel "crunchy" try resetting the U-bolts on to bearing to see if that makes things smooth.  If not I would replace those bearings.  If everything is already smooth and free then I am at a loss of what to try next.

Good Luck  John

Hi John,

Thanks for giving me that suggestion but I have already done that haha. Everything seemed to be normal and smooth, I'll give that a double check though just incase. Thankyou
