ColorFabb LW-ASA

Hello

New to LW filaments so I wonder if anyone have experience with LW-ASA and what print settings I should use?

Using a ender 5 pro with prusa slicer.

Sincerely Erik

RE: ColorFabb LW-ASA

I know this is an old post, but I've been printing model rockets with LW-ASA. I'd imagine by now, you either figured it out or gave up. If the latter is true, here's what I do:
-Retraction for Ender-5 Pro (I have one): 5 mm (2nd most important setting)
-Retraction Speed: 60 mm/s
-Flow Rate (This is the most important setting): 0.48
Try setting your flow rate to 0.5 and calibrate from there. If your e-steps haven't been calibrated, then it could be different than 0.48.
-Z-Hop: Turn it off or set to top surface only. Z hop leaves blobs at every location where it performs a retraction
-Speed: I typically use 40 mm/s but 60 mm/s gives decent results. Definitely don't print fast with this filament.
-Nozzle Temperature: 255°C
-Build Plate Temp: 95° (you might think about increasing this for a non-enclosed printer)
-Use a wide brim. I use 15-20mm.
-Consider using a draft shield. I recommend a draft shield anytime you're printing high temp filament (ASA, ABS, HIPS), but I have found that they like to detach from the build plate as they cool and warp. I'll put a few drops of Elmers along the edge of the draft shield brim to prevent this. Works alright.

The only thing I can't figure out with LW-ASA is deretraction. The material continues to ooze and expand during retraction, so when it fully deretracts, there is extra material coming from the nozzle. I'm wondering if there is a way to set the "extra length on restart" to a negative value so that it doesn't fully deretract and is able to account for the extra material. The result of this phenomenon is that prints are covered in wispy strands of extra filament. It's easy to clean off, but it does sometimes compromise the aesthetics of the print.
-If you had an enclosed printer, I would recommend setting the chamber temp to 55°C.
