Choice of slicing software

Hello everyone

I am a 3D model learner and enthusiast. Recently, my friend purchased an Original Prusa MK4 3D Printer kit. This is also my first time to come into contact with and understand the Prusa brand. Of course, after a brief visit, I I have developed a love for this new machine. I really like the design and color matching. We generally use printers to make and print some models and figures. I will use a MIRACO 3D scanner and some post-production modeling software to create these little things.

At present, I have a small question that I would like to ask you. That is, I used CHITUBOX's slicing software before, and now I found that Prusa has its own post-production slicing software, so I would like to ask you about the differences between the two. If Prusa's slicing software is more suitable, then I will plan to start learning and using this new software.

Thank you very much for everyone's help and suggestions.

RE: Choice of slicing software

I thought Chitubox was for SLA printers, so if I'm not mistaken it won't even work with a Mk4. I would certainly recommend Prusaslicer as the "most natural" choice with optimized settings for Prusa printers but there are plenty of alternatives.

RE: Choice of slicing software

Just 2-cents worth from a noob to slicing…

Since the printer is Prusa, PrusaSlicer is, as @fuchsr said, a more “natural” choice.  Also, since it is the printer manufacturer and slicer software developer, they have many features they can exploit or enhance.  I also have used the Cura Slicer (Utilimate), but not really given it a fair shake, as I really just want to print and I am comfortable with PrusaSlicer.  That, and spending all my “software learning” brain cells on trying to figure out how to make a 3D box in Fusion 360…
