Changes to the Library?
I noticed there have been some significant changes made to the library, particularly around our users. With medals and rankings and all kinds of chrome. Did I miss an announcement or something?

Just a heads up, there will be more information released about the recent updates to prusaprinters that will cover the changes. When that is released I will post in here about it.
As far as other parts of the website / domain. They are always working on different parts to improve the experience for people. We keep it under wraps till its ready to be released. For the forums (as an example) I posted that poll to get some feedback from you guys and from the feedback about the last update and that feedback is being worked on now. As far as what will happen and when, that I can not say, only that it is being worked with.
Company wise, we are a 3D printing company (yes I know "Duh, of course you are"). But they have different departments dedicated to work on other parts to try and make the over all "user experience" something that is easy and enjoyable. That also includes all of the different parts of the website. 🙂
So, TLDR....
Info will be released about the changes to pursaprinters. As soon as I have them I will post updates.

Prusa are encouraging and rewarding those who post lots of designs. Unfortunately there is no reward for quality or printability so we might not get many useful prints out of it.
Nor have they improved the sorting and searching so it's still almost impossible to find that useful part you remember seeing last year...

Well it's kind of neat I guess. I was a little bit concerned with the quality vs quantity ratio especially given some of the rewards.
It's only a pity we don't get credit for any original work we've already created.

Yes, the gamification of Prusaprinters.org has started! Having said that, at least there's some real value provided by Prusa here (cash points in for goods) rather than just a stupid fancy avatar or similar nonsense that costs the platform owners nothing. So I'm good with it even though I'd rather the devs focused on other aspects of the website.

I quickly learned to add parts to at least the default collection. One thing the library here has over Thingiverse is organizing your collections is way easier--moving a file from one to another is not a huge hassle.
