I don't know if you've noticed but very few are around anymore.

A user here predicted this a couple years ago just before the Big <--being sarcastic XL announcement, oddly enough that same guy predicted it would be 2023 before you saw the first signs of project Big Foot.

RE: !Awaiting moderation

Despite awaiting moderation, an answer I posted 2 days ago was visible in the thread immediately like it used to be. The difference was, that it did not show up as an own post on top of the the recent posts list.

At least the people you want to help do have a chance to read your post without delay if they look closer.

I do see their point in fighting spam. Still, it is a bit annoying.

No they cant.  You can see your own post with the awaiting moderation tag on it but other normal users can not see it.  Log out and try it.

RE: !Awaiting moderation

I Have been communicating with a second Prusa rep, on this matter,
Hopefully we can get some movement.

I am an unpaid user with moderation capabilities. and have no fixed attendance schedule.
when there are large spam attacks, I initially ban the spammer's account to stop further spam posts. then I endeavour to clear the legitimate moderation requests,
and once they are clear, I deal with the remainder of the spam messages
at my level, it can take a while to remove 1800plus spam posts. (there have been some very persistant spammers) in time honoured fashion, they use different accounts for subsequent attacks.

there are other moderators in different time zones,  we do try to moderate as quickly as possible.

Please bear with us whilst we try to get the situation resolved.

regards Joan

@Neophyl: You are right. I logged out and tried it. Thank you for clarifying this.

Thanks to moderators like @JoanTabb the forum is kept unsable for us regular users, not drowned in a sea of spam.

Hi Joan,

Is there any way to whitelist serious users to eliminate delays in moderating posts?

Thanks!

wbr,

Karl

@joantabb Just to be sure: I believe nobody is criticizing  you or the other moderators - on the contrary: kudos for keeping up the work despite the additional work of approving the posts of everybody - I'd be long gone...

The fact that nobody with more than moderator-privileges even cared to make a statement about the matter is a big statement on it's own.

Hi Karl,
Unfortunately my toy box controls are limited in functionality. 🙁

I have to ask the big boys and girls at Prusa to do the clever stuff...

I have asked a number of times for all long term users to be automatically out of moderation. but so far, no success.

RE: !Awaiting moderation

Greetings from ChatGPT:

As an AI language model, I can analyze the language patterns and content of a post to identify if it is likely to be original human forum post or bot generated ad spam.

Usually, bot generated ad spam tends to have some common characteristics such as:

Repetitive phrases: Bot-generated posts are often repetitive and use the same phrases over and over again to promote a particular product or service.

Generic or irrelevant content: Spam posts are usually generic and lack the specific details that a real person would include in their post. They may also contain irrelevant content that is not related to the topic of the forum.

Poor grammar and spelling: Automated posts often have poor grammar and spelling errors as they are generated by programs that do not have the ability to proofread.

Links or references to a product or service: Spam posts often contain links or references to a particular product or service, as the main goal is to drive traffic to a website.

On the other hand, an original human forum post is more likely to have a conversational tone and to contain personal details or opinions. The post may also ask for advice or help from other forum members, and generally demonstrate a level of engagement with the forum community.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I don’t know. I am here.

I guess I had noticed that some posts were showing moderation required.  Thought I had posted something slightly wrong.

Or that perhaps it was because I had selected ‘answered’ on the post and was continuing to talk after that.

Interesting forum. Finally doing the ‘unread posts’ link.

oh - it tells us how many are currently logged in?

Really, just TWO of us ?!?

Looks like my posts no longer are awaiting moderation so I'm hopeful they may just have fixed this one now.
