I think I figured it out, finally!

Me too 🙂 I didn't realize there were two files attached, one a STEP file, which comes up empty for me, the other an  f3d file, which loads fine.

I think I figured it out, finally!

Glad to hear that!

After all these years lofts are still black magic to me ☹️ Lots of trial and error...

I jump back and forth between FreeCAD and Fusion 360 (mostly FreeCAD now). I found lofts to be easier (more forgiving) than Fusion.

Learned something as I work on these lofts: It seems one has to make the round shape complete. And not in quarters and mirror joining the bodies. Doing it by quarter puts these jaring points on the edges. Making the sketch complete with mirros instead and lofting it that way makes it smooth.

Fusion is being cantakerous today. I think the latest update is lsss stable than the last. But its always borderline unstable lol.

It makes better parts than Sketchup at least.

Oh, whatever Autodesk did on this last update, I friggin hate it, to be polite. I liked the project/file navigation the way it was. Now the home is all different and I really don't like the new format.

It keeps whiggin out on me and jumping out of my navigation and current file to that terrible new home...

I guess Autodesk are getting ready to offer us "valuable services and upgrades" more prominently on that new Home screen...

The Data Panel (which is my main navigation tool) can apparently not be activated on the Home screen, but only once a design has been opened. But the "Projects" view on the Home screen has similar functionality. And I rarely get sent to the Home screen -- only if I close all design files, it seems? Even when I start up Fusion, it shows me an empty untitled design, not the Home screen.

You can disable Home in Preferences>Startup Experience, and it will stop prompting you when you open it — but it will still throw up the Home Screen when you close your last file. Now I'm on insider preview, this may not have made it into the latest public release.

I must say I was also super irritated by that in-your-face dialog when I opened Fusion. But now that it's gone, I'm okay. And to be honest, I'm warming up to the home screen. I often found myself scrolling through the data panel to go to My Recent Data, now it's right there.

But oh boy,  that whole push toward the "classic" assembly/parts paradigm, when one of Fusions best features (IMHO) was the ability to have components (and stacked components) in one (what they now call "hybrid) design. Badly executed but after the initial chaos at least we're back to hybrid being a first-class citizen again,

My startup was already set to default design type. I like using Hybrid.

I did see a support column to AutoDesk of people complaining about the new "upgrade" https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-support-forum/once-i-close-the-last-open-project-it-shows-home-with-no-way-to/m-p/14094033

I just don't like it when you get used to doing something one way and then they throw you a curve ball. Now I have to relearn it. It breaks habit.

I've had it jump to home even though all my files are not closed. That's in combination with Fusion poorly mathing, not letting me paint surfaces, putting crazy temporary artifacts in my model and somehow automatically moving things in the timeline when I expand or collapse groups... While I am moving along Fusion be struggling every step of the way.

RE:

I think in todays world we should be mentally prepared to the new interfaces every other day, it's not the last time Fusion360 interface was dramatically changed, surely they will do a lot more. I have a hobby free license and now, even with Hybrid approach, I can't model more than one component in one model - it allows me create component and model, but then a message appears -> "Edit in place is unavailable. You do not have permissions to edit this design".

I hope it is a bug, since otherwise it a serious push from Autodesk to persuade paid license. However, for hobbyists that would be way too expensive.

Also to add my 5 cents on the model design. For the figure like yours, why dont you try creating it with Shapes?
That would be much more suitable technique and it's not that hard. And use classic solid parametric design only where necessary - for the small parts or texts overlays.  I'd did this with my 3D_Beerchy - created Cabin as form and then cut the windows using sketches.

Please vote for my models in the contest 🙂

I actually started working more with forms. Its giving me more interesting part shapes even if I dont quite tbe skill I need just yet.

Im getting tired of enshitification. I wont buy a license. Not at those prices. Not when I cant just buy a version I like, permanantly. I will move on to new software if it gets too insufferable.

More folk need to tell these tech giants to pound sand.

Fusion 360 will be addressing the home screen/data panel issue. I say "addressing" because nothing is "fixed" anymore. They could make things worse for all we know.
