Add END TIME when print will be finished

Hi

It would be nice to have END  time calculated when print will be done. Maybe in Prusa slicer, but the best would be on the LCD of printer.

Now I have to calculate that if time is 5:15pm and print will take 7h22min that It will be finished at 12h37min at night. So i can setup alarm to wake me up and i will change for another print.

But I have to manually calculate it.

My first post, so Hi to everyone from me.

Two easy solutions:

  • Octoprint has a variety of plugins that can calculate "ETA" completion times and display them on the printer or the Octoprint web page.
  • Use a countdown timer rather than an alarm. There are many apps for smartphones and watches that have this capability.

A feature might be added to PrusaSlicer to do this, but I wouldn't consider it to be a priority for the developers. You can make feature requests over on the Prusa github pages.

For such a feature to work the printer needs to know the current time of wherever you are in the world.  The mk3 doesnt really have a lot of memory space left for non  essential features like this.  Its not exactly hard to calculate end time, and if its finishing at after midnight and you are already asleep just check on it in the morning and get your beauty sleep 🙂  If you are waking up to start another print then it sounds like you need a second printer lol.

I should also point out that this functionality is part of the Mini in the last firmware release.  The Buddy board in the Mini is a much more capable (in theory) 32 bit board with a lot more program space.  They added it in and it now shows the actual time it will finish.  You know what though, several users opened issues on github and complained they wanted the old functionality back.  Damned if you do and damned if you don't.  So we shall have to see if Prusa make it a settings option on a future release.

RE: Add END TIME when print will be finished

Hey @wilkog, this is actually something that is in process for the MINI as it can get network time if it's attached over Ethernet. It would be harder to implement on the MK3/S because it doesn't have a way to know what time it is.

On another note, This section of the forum is for showing off awesome prints and topics around firmware should be moved to the discussion area  about your machine or about software. If we don't all do our job keeping forums clean, they get unusable for everyone.
