A nod to PrintDry Filament dryers

Being in a maritime climate, active filament drying is crucial for good prints. I've purchased a Sunlu S2 print dryer and PrintDry unit over the past year. The PrintDry is about twice the cost of the SunLu, but their support differs by a wider margin. The Sunlu S2 worked well, but died in 6 mo. It was purchased online via a Canadian distributor (DigitMakers) and neither the distributor, nor Sunlu would replace at their cost. The defect is an engineering and/or manufacturing problem. They would fix if I paid shipping, but that almost equalled the cost of the unit (in our Country), and could fail again. I consider this unit to have zero warranty if unable to walk back to the purchase site.  In the PrintDry case, a fan was extremely loud. I put up with it for over 6 mo. but eventually contacted PrintDry and sent them a video of its DB level. They not only replied (saying this definitely was not within their design specs) within the same day, but said they would ship their *NEWER* version PrintDry base out the next day and apologized for the problem. (They did not ask for the old base back for repair) The PrintDry unit dries 2 spools at a time and the unit I have works very well. The original fan somehow has a failure .. maybe due to shipping.. but I wanted to pass this along as good support deserves to be recognized and the PrintDry unit works extremely well with its air circulation fan.

I have had a PrintDry Pro 3 now for a year and aside from the fan being noisy when I start it up, it's been worth every penny.

Buying direct means more money goes to PrintDry better supporting their small business.

RE: A nod to PrintDry Filament dryers

4 days after I contacted PrintDry I had a brand new updated (Version 3 Pro) base in my hands. Much, much quieter than the original which obviously must have been damaged in shipping.

Interestingly DigitMakers, the Canadian distributor which did not effectively honour my  Sunlu S2 warranty, no longer carries Sunlu driers.. At least not when I checked today. Think that might speak about the reputation of Sunlu.
