@charles-h13,  thanks for sharing. You're one of the voices I respect when it comes to trying things out. I'm not in the market for a big printer yet, much less a Delta, but I do like to keep track of these things.

I'm new in the Forum and thank you to everyone talking about the potential XL Prusa.
I was also disappointed when saw the new launch was for a smaller printer (mini),,, Maybe somebody more tchnicla can tell me why they launch a size 18.18.18 that is already included in the 21.20.25 ... and still a machine that takes some room (even if reduced).

Hope they soon announce some bigger printer.

I had some tests for big prints done on a Creatbot and the quality was awful, very poor prints and the worse customer care service I ever experienced. So reading Creality critics here I'm not sure what to do if I want a reliable printer, able to print different filamants as flex, nylon, asa, pla, abs, petg, etc

I'm really disappointed MMU2S still cannot print flex filament (unless you are a coder or specialist modifying) so also hope that it will print lots of different filaments.
Not really excited about multi filament after several failures with my Mk2 (original" and MMU1 -> MMU2S with permanent failures and assemble/disassemble exercices. SO maybe a Prusa XL with a MosaicPalette would be a good option...

Great news for you!  Prusa will be launching the Prusa XL soon.  Based on the posts that I have read, the Prusa XL will be launched in the first half of the year (2020).  It will be an amazing machine!  Start saving your money!  Here are the specs so far:

* 400mm x 400mm x 400mm
* CoreXY
* Heated bed (of course)
* $1,200 to $1,500 price

People here are desperate to get 400x400 printer. What are you actualy going to print? I have built 300x200 printer and after printing one drone body and than converted it back to 200x200 because I had no use for it. Asked my friends modellers and they buid even 1:6 model in multiple pices.

I would be happy to get length in one axis, either X or Y... (or Diagonal...but not particularly Z... 

I make largely functional items and the strength in the Z direction is compromised by all of the layer changes...

Also what I tested on the 300x200 took ages to print. So when you have 400x400 you have to use volcano or super volcano hotends with layer 1 mm or more.

I print avionics bays, nose cones, and fin cans for rockets.  It is amazing to me how strong these babies are with a 25% infill.  I flew a 6to1 - 38mm ogive nose cone at Mach 2 to nearly 2500 meters (8000 feet).  It did not melt, deform, or break.  I am building 54mm, 75, and 98mm rockets down the road.  I need a bigger printer to do 54mms.  At 6to1, that is over 300mm.

I keep hitting size limits with my Prusa MK2s.  For example, here are some projects that I had to print on my CR-10 (which is a piece of garbage and breaks down all the time):

* Deadpool Mask and Ironman Helmet for Halloween for my teenage boys: 

* Cosplay Masks and Swords and Guns for teenage boys: 

* Silverware drawers for my kitchen.  The CR-10 was not big enough so I had to print it in pieces:  https://www.tinkercad.com/things/1Rjt97ZAU7v-kitchen-utensils-main/edit

* Shoes  (yup!) - CR-10 is not big enough so I am waiting for the Prusa XL to print shoes for me and my boys: 

3D printing is fun.  It is so cool when you design and print your own projects.  If the project is too big for my Prusa, I try to print it on my CR-10.  If the project is too big for my CR-10, I have to split the model into sections and then try to glue the pieces together.  I tried 3D Gloop and all types of glues, but the pieces break apart when you start playing with the model/toy.  For example, I print Thor's Hammer for my son and then I glued the pieces together.  The first time that he swung the hammer, it split on a glued seam.  Damn!  If I had a bigger printer, I could have printed the Hammer as a single, strong model!

Looks perfect for nose-cones and payload fairings. But I'm not sure if the build plate is large around enough for fin assemblies...

I'm currently looking for a larger print volume as well.  It does seem that the size of a printer is like power, once you get used to it you are always looking for more to expand into.  The mindset of users of this technology are every expanding and likewise are the printers so the lines in the sand are constantly adapting.  I completely understand and appreciate Prusa's devotion to quality and not just reacting to the latest request but trying to find the compromise of their customer base for size/cost/capabilities.  All this while still setting the bar, at or higher, for customer experience.

Yes, we all want what we don't have, but what will keep us going and growing until the next development and release.  By the way who wants to invest into a product then to realize that what we just purchased is obsolete.  I do like the way the company gives you the ability to upgrade to the latest revisions.  Very smart in the aspect of not leaving anyone behind.  May not always be the best option for your dollars to get there but there is an option.

Having said all that, I'm in the market for a heated enclosure with independent dual extruders and around a 400x400x400 build volume that can work well with Nylons, ASA, ABS, PLA, PETG, and soluble filaments.  I'm always finding new uses for new filament types so I tend to grown into the limits that my printer allows.  I'm try to satisfy an every growing customer base of needs.  My Prusa MK2S was my first to learn from and I've expanded into a couple more MK3S systems with MMU2s.

The pull to wait for another Prusa that can meet these needs is to try and keep the software and equipment used throughout the printers common.  If my demand drives my timeline to be sooner then I will head out and research some other printers but I'd rather not.

I've enjoyed reading and learning about the various needs and capabilities throughout this forum and it's always inspiring to hear how others adapt and yet still settle with the shortcomings of other printers that don't meet all their needs.  I guess we work with what we've got. 🙂

I hope that Prusa's team develops a unit that will check as many boxes as they can for our needs with their next revision.

I’m anxious to see Prusa’s XL solution simply because I love well thought out industrial design.  My needs are better met by a Mini and if that proves successful, an SL1.  A number of things have kept me from pulling “all systems go” lever on the purchase machine is the twin issues of recycled materials and toxic resins.  Once I’m convinced I can print without contributing to ecological collapse I’ll move forward with due speed.
