RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
Well, it is excellent new that a Prusa XL is on the horizon, and not even that far off. I think fans wanted it and it appears like Jo Prusa is delivering a device that will be an upgrade on a few levels aside from just raw surface area. I hope is it not too much to hope that the Prusa XL Kit will ship, like the Mini, in larger discreet sections. Overall, I am just happy to see that a Prusa quality and design large bed printer will be available!

That would be great if it shipped in larger discreet sections like the Mini! This would make sense especially if the price is $1,200 - $1,500 as Josef stated.
RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
I really hope they make the $1200 goal.

Hey Joe,
think about a dual extruder option pls and cheers! 🙂

@peter-w26
I do not see it happening with the MMU2S.

I would like to see some linear rails for more stiffness. 😍

Hi,
A Frenchman managed to take a picture of a prototype PRUSA CORE XY printer ... 😎
What do you think of this printer prototype ?
Cheers,
An other Frenchman 😜

@djp92
I am ready to buy now.

RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
That printer on the picture of Frenchman does not quite look like it:
- Print area looks small for 40x40 unless that cooling fan is size of 2 palms
- it has character display, new one is expected to have something similar to Mini
- very similar look to printer that's been already addressed: https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/ccbryv/prusa_big_volume_printer_do_you_think_it_is/
RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
The prototype looks very much like a reworked Mk3.
X axis same motor as current X axis, Y axis, same motor, but a drive rod linking both sides together, Z axis, uses both Z axis motors, and this prototype is still using the existing 8 bit controller as per the MK3, Extruder looks like a Mk3 extruder and the existing einsy rambo is fitted at the rear next to the PSU.
If this is how the core XY printer will look, then it should be considerably less than €1200.
I do hope this is just an early prototype to get the printed parts sorted.
Normal people believe that if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Engineers believe that if it ainât broke, it doesnât have enough features yet.
RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
I think this is just a proof of concept they are running for quite some time now. The actual Prusa XL will look different.
I'm pretty sure the R&D room with projects under development is not for guests.

@chocki
No, it's not even that. It's been explained what it is at least 5 months ago if not earlier. While one cannot exclude possibility it was an inspiration, this particular printer will not be sold as XL.

RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
I have researched this over the last several hours and I agree that it is a prototype and not quite the XL.

@pingu
So that is what I am hoping for. I modified the MK2 to the MK2-x and kept the frame until now added some upgrades from Zaribo and Igus cable drag chain. The last upgrade was the Bondtech extruder. So adding the MMU2s to this machine will not happen.
I am waiting for the XL and will add the MMU2 to it.
RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
No official word on MMU on XL, but that would not be a surprise if they do.

RE: 400 x 400 Prusa Printer?
It would surprise me, i guess. As you can see in the prusa mini discussion thread, we are shure the mmu2 will not work with the new 32 bit board. First and obvious problem is the missing conector port for the mmu...
I cant belive prusa is developening one dedicated board for each of their printers. I guess the new 32 buddy board is the new standart für prusa, and will be used on the new core xy aswell.
And lets be honest, the mmu is just a pain in the ass in so many ways. I dont think so it is seen as succsesor by prusa... best guess they try to let the mmu die, but cant do this due so many sold units. The conunity would be fucked up uf they drop mmu2 developement.
And still yesterday my mmu2 clone kit arrived. Gona gibe it a try anyway...

Is the schematic of the mini board already online? Do you have a link?
