3D scanners?
Looking for advise on what would be good entry level scanner? Looking to replicate smaller objects for my hobby. Also I don't mind spending more for quality! Appreciate any help.

I've considered a scanner myself, but right now, the dedicated ones are still very expensive. There are a few applications available for phones that are said to be able to scan, which I intend to try. The first two will be;
- Polycam
- KIRI Engine

I am monitoring the 3D scanner scene for the last years. At the moment we are at the stage where the first 3D hobby scanner could be used for not precision scanning. Compared with 2D scanning we are at the stage where A4 flat bed scanner were not affordable for hobbyists. Only a handheld mouse style 2D scanner was affordable.
Either 3D scanning even simple things as a Lego brick is not or not very good possible. Forget the workflow to scan a broken part and print a new part. This is currently hard work and requires quit expensive hard- and software. There are quite a lot of YT videos where you could see the results.
At the moment you have to spend more than $2000 to get results that are good enough for precise post processing.
If you only what to scan small things and precision does not matter you could get the desired results with entry level 3D scanners.
