3D Printing molds for resin pouring
Hello to whoever is reading,
I would like some advice please, I have a friend that does some resin art and thought I may be able to print some molds. I was looking at the Flexfill filament: https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/filament/86-flexfill-98a-natural-filament-500g.html - would this type of filament be suitable for resin pouring? If not any suggestions for alternatives are very welcome. I can find out some more information about the resin being used if that helps.
I'm aware you can print the shapes then pour the silicone over them to create a mold, I'm curious to know possible to cutout the middleman.

I use 3D printing for resin, urethane, and silicone casting on a near daily basis. I don't really recommend cutting out the middle man. The nice part about 3D printing your master (instead of the mold), is that you can post process it to your hearts content. Sand it, prime it, clear coat it, whatever. Then use something like Smooth-On Moldstar silicone for the making the mold. If you spend the time getting a good silicone mold, you can use it over and over and over again.

Thanks dustin I really appreciate the feedback, I'll bare that in mind. For printing the master do you recommend a particular material? I'm thinking PLA is best suited?

No issues with PLA; print most of my masters in it. Sometimes will print via SLA if a nicer surface finish is required.

Test with a scrap first, some resins bond to Flex 98a extremely well.
