A bit too ambitious? I tried to print the whole Trex skeleton in one shot before I realized some of the pieces were non-manifold. See spaghetti. I also forgot the brim and lost a couple ribs and femur. Note the 2 day print time.

But most of the parts cleaned up nicely and I was able to fix the bad parts and only print the missing ribs thanks to split feature in slic3r. I used meshmixer to make solid with the finest settings. Is there a better method? Clearing out support from tight spaces was a pain.

Anyway, final assembly looks good. I had to use super glue even though it is designed to snap together because the full model is so heavy the front sagged and broke a clip after a day. I also had to reprint the pegs with a couple percent larger XY scaling to make the fit tighter.

Re: Trex

Strange, the photos were right side up when I previewed. Sorry about that.

They show up correctly on my phone but not computer.

If I had corrected all the model issues ahead of time, I'm confident I would have succeeded in a single print of 48 hrs.

I have been wanting to print this for my Nephew. Is it on Thingiverse?

Am I right in thinking this thing is about 20 plus inches long?

Looks really good!

Re: Trex

how are you finding using a slab for dampening? (keeping my eyes out for a stray one that needs a good home under my printer too lol)

I like it. Good $6 spent. Might be a placebo. I did repack bearings but slab helped to quiet it down more. I use only high power mode. I think the inertial mass helps damp the printer movements. I have pretty clean Z surfaces typically. I'm thinking of adding some angle braces to z frame to really get it rigid.
