Strange Costume Piece
My wife and I go to the local Renaissance Faire and like doing unusual costumes for that effect. Over the past couple of years, we've done Wayne the Bruce and Lady Robin (i.e. a Scottish Renaissance Batman and Robin) and Sir Clark of Kent and Princess Diana of Themiscyra (i.e. Superman and Wonder Woman). This year, she decided on doing a costume for me based on Doctor Strange (based on the movie costume and not the comic). I decided to take on the Eye of Agamotto. I downloaded the pattern from Thingiverse ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1929165 ) and got to work.
This left me with pieces down with a gold-colored filament that were pretty cool but looked like gold plastic.
But the Eye did, at least open.
I did a blackwash to the pieces to make them look more like tarnished metal.
I also drilled a hole into the back so I could put an LED (meant for lighting up paper lantern decorations) into the Eye. While I can open it, the effect with the Eye closed is an interesting visual effect (shown with a Sling Ring also made for the same purpose).
I don't know if it is Hall of Fame material but it is the most interesting job that I've done so far with the printer. (I've only had it working for a little more than a week though this is not my first printer.) I'm looking to see what else I can do with it.
