RE: Skidster
Well I'm really happy with the way the arms turned out. Starting to trial assembly things now but still waiting on the electronic. The next thing to print is the bucket (3 pcs) which will take a LOT of time. The actuators are from ACTUONIX. They are not cheap but they are nice. The arm raising will be from the right stick and the tilt will be from the left stick. Each control will have a ESC on it. I didn't want to use plywood but it looks like I'm going to have to. The sides would have to be 5 pcs of pla expoxied and I need more strength than that. I'm thinking of covering the exterior with 3d printed panels.
RE: Skidster
Part 1 of 3 for the bucket turned out excellent. Trial fitting of actuator is great. Only 36 hours to print the other 2 sections of the bucket. They will be epoxied together.
RE: Skidster
Couldn't wait, had to test it.

The URL did not come through properly, but I did a cut-paste and viewed it. Very impressive!
RE: Skidster
Lets try this one. Thought something was wrong.

I don;t like the way you can't go back in and edit more than twice. Couldn't delete the old one.
RE: Skidster
Bucket is glued. Still needs to be sanded from epoxy but it fits nice.
RE: Skidster
Got the belt cover and actuator mount on one side. Had to try it. It's lop-sided because there's no bearings and only one actuator installed. Hopefully will get the other side done soon.
RE: Skidster
Damn links.

RE: Skidster
Both actuators on now. Will wire this stuff over Christmas.
Scored this Grizzly 7x12 metal lathe this weekend for $140.00. Took 6 hours to disassemble and cleanup the rust and had to order missing gears for another $75.00 but what a deal.
LED light panel.
Starting to print the interior pieces.
Replaceable bucket teeth. They are fastened to a 1/8 x 1/2 aluminum bar underneath which is an expendable piece. It will wear down with the plowing.
RE: Skidster
Looking impressive.

@skipper_52
Every workshop looks the same - too many machines and too much material in tooooooooo less space!
Nice project, best regards, Clemens

RE: Skidster
Ain't that the truth. it needs a thorough cleaning after this project.
RE: Skidster
Most of if not all of the wiring will be done this weekend. I should be able to post a video of it working. Waiting on some mini black screws to fasten some of the panels. Slow boat from somewhere.
RE: Skidster
What a great weekend. My son came down and helped me wire it. There are still a few bugs to work out. Pinions and motor caps had to be reprinted but there is no doubt in our minds that this toy will plow snow. There is so much power there it is incredible. Hoping that the video posts otherwise follow the link to my youtube video.
RE: Skidster
Video is working on my Raspberry Pi! Nice result - is the guy in the picture your son?
Best regards, Clemens

Congratulations!
Now, the Big Burning Question. Will it push snow? 😉
