Prusa MK2s Multi Purpose Platform

Hello Makers,

I wanted a place to put my printer tools on the printer and ended up with a whole system I can use now to mount whatever I want on the Prusa 😀

The MPP as I call it makes use of the polygon cut-outs ontop of the Z-axis, providing you with real estate to build or attach anything you want to it. It has several pre-drilled holes for M3 screws which are self-tightening, no nut needed plus four cut-outs for cablebinders. The MPP itself fits perfectly without any screws, binders or anything and is very stable when printed with 100% infill.

There are two versions of the MPP, one for the left and one for the right side (as seen from the front), labeled as such and it can be downloaded here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2647792

The tray for my tools and a convenient space to place screws can be downloaded here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2647994

There's a left and right version of it too and another attachment is in the works and soon available.

Or use the MPP as a mount for your Rasbpi, a place for Marvin to be or any other thing you always wanted to attach to the printer 😀

Let me know what you think 😉

Also, can anyone tell me if the MK2 (not s) or even MK have the same polygon cut-outs?

Cheers raphael

It's a damned site better than on the table top with all the filament off-cuts and priming wastage. You would be surprised at how many tools I try to throw away when cleaning up!

that's exactly why I made this, the place around my printer is usually a filament-snipplet loaded mess and I don't have much space on the table to begin with. Also when I'm working on the printer I always need to place a box somewhere for the screws so I won't lose them, with the tray all these problems are solved 😉

The next attachment is still in print after 18h (80% done), will post soon.

Btw, that's 18h without any blockage, thank you again for all the help you are providing, I cannot state my gratitude enough 😀

sure thing 🙂 ... don't get me wrong. it is a nice design and well executed. i was thinking about accidentally dropping the tool on the bed/print and damage it. also adding/removing the tools from the box during the print would shake the frame. don't know how big effect would that be though

had same problems with the tools. solved it with the drawer under the enclosure

Tomaz, some of us have wives who just take over every square inch of storage space available in the house... 😉

exactamundo 😉 I have to cram 3 hobbies into my little man cave I'm allowed to have, 3d printing, drone garage and music studio plus a tv, out of the 12 m2 I have there are maybe 4 m2 left on the floor to walk. So going up the vertical is pretty much the only option for any form of organization for me

Re: Prusa MK2s Multi Purpose Platform

I've redesigned the screw hole pattern on the MPP and arranged them completely symmetrical, thus giving the possibility to design attachments which can be mounted on both sides without further adjustments or by simply mirroring the part.

You can find the old and new version here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2647792

You need this version of the platform if you want to mount the latest attachment I've created, a Paper Towel Holder which you can find here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2656138

@tomaz: you see how desperate I am? Don't even have a space for a roll of paper on my desk 😀

happy printing 😉
