Lightsaber

My first serious work with my printer. Except for the transparent bit, everything else is printed on a MK2

there's of course a lot of post processing, you can see the process from the pictures below

This is a detail of the finished work, pretty happy with it. Great 3d printer for the price.

Re: Lightsaber

😮 That looks absolutely fantastic matteo!

Did you use white spray primer and then sand it smooth to get rid of layer lines? The end product looks flawless. Would love to know your secret. 😛

I used mainly three products:

- tamiya putty, to smooth very rough areas
- gunze/mr.hobby mr.surfacer, it's basically liquid putty I used for spot corrections
- dupli-color filler primer, this is applied in layers between each sanding session

repeat until happy 🙂

Re: Lightsaber

Hi great print!

can you let us know what sand paper grit and tools you used to achieve such a great finish.

How long did the sanding take? I bet the paint curing must have taken a while 🙂

Glad they didn't wait for your response 😆

Saw this in their list and printed one off for my brother in law for x-mas. He was thrilled and the others there were jealous.

Thanks for the inspiration/idea 😉
