That's what I call art. Attempt to produce something like that in a focused way 👍

I forgot to check my printer at 30-60 minutes.  This is at about 4 hours.

Well Charles, relative to your experience, I can only say it was supposed to look like this.

there's a lot more going on her then you seem to release.

Good Luck

What the heck is that supposed to be?

It looks like it's a tower of break-away support material to me.

Interesting.  I get odd results like that with layer shifts.  I have no idea why they occur.  They are rare.

I had a couple drinking buddies over. It was a bet.

Technically I lost, when we came back to the printer a couple hours later the nozzle was buried in the top broke away section.

yeah,  its all break away support.

Drink and 3D printing can be dangerous.  Don’t touch the nozzle no matter how high the wager is.

RE: Hall of Shame

Thanks for the warning Charles, the wager wasn't for touching the hotend it was about the control you have over the shape of your PrusaSlicer created supports. however I was intoxicated and failed to prove this to my friend, who has a fair bit of printing knowledge as well, but at least conceded that I had shown him something he didn't know.

The point of this post though, was that I had failed and I showed it, it was probably the worst fail I've had in 5 years.

RE: Hall of Shame

Here's one that happened a few minutes ago.  Late night can't sleep and might as well print this.  LOL, I guess I neglected the admonitions to Clean The Plate And Clean It My Way, huh?  😉

It came off easily when heated up.  There was some kind of a booger on the plate, and I have a feeling that had something to do with it.

I restarted and it's printing as expected now.  I'm keeping a better eye on it this time.

(And yes, I know I'm overdue for a good PM on the thing.)

That was a close one, it made it to the PINDA and almost into the PC fan shroud.

Yes, I really need to take it down and give it a good clean-up.

Fortunately nothing was molten around the Pinda.  I aborted the print and preheated it up to ABS temperature (the print was with PLA) and let it sit a few minutes and it came off cleanly.

And Tabitha says hi to you too.  😉

RE: Hall of Shame

This picture doesn't quite show the whole story here, but this represents my shame. This was a five color, PETG MMU print shortly after I swapped out my hot end for a Revo Six. This print  failed over, and over, and over again. I kept tweaking temperatures, print speeds, fan speeds, ramming settings, and just about everything else. It took me about three days of attempts to get through this print. That godforsaken yellow just REFUSED to work with the Revo Six. A lot of stuff I looked up warned against using the R6 with an MMU, but I just wouldn't accept that they were incompatible.

Eventually, I did it. I found the settings that would work with all five filaments. I was so damned proud of myself. But there was a LOT of stringing. I was rarely getting strings on the yellow tips that were up to three feet long.

So I spent the next week or so tuning the tips. That f****** yellow. Nothing I did worked well with the yellow, but I was getting beautiful tips on everything else. I started to think that the thermistor was bad on the R6, so I bought a $400 FLIR camera. While waiting for the camera to show up, I kept printing things (poorly) and experimenting with anything I could think of. At some point, I started cleaning up my printing area and carried some spools of filament out to the garage. As I was putting them into my filament box, I saw it.

"Atomic Filament Perfect Yellow PETG PRO." It was printed right on the label. I dropped everything in the garage and rush back inside. I pulled the spool off of the roller and looked at it. "Atomic Filament Perfect Yellow PLA." I spent a week, as well as $400 on an infrared camera, trying to print two incompatible plastics together. All because I didn't look at a label.

I noticed a link to this gallery was not in this thread.

Some spectacular, some sad, some funny.

I did get a few of them here over the years, so if any are yours and you don't want them included, just say so and I will gladly nuke them.

(And yes, a few of them are mine.)

Enjoy!  😉
