Great i3 I love it

I get mine one week ago. Now after a couple of bad printings with my own models I think I am getting it. This is the Logo and mascot of our company.

Cool Printer...hopefully 3D Prints will get faster somedays.

Now I will paint it with brass colour.

Kindly Rog!

Hi Rog

That's brilliant, but why paint it? Why not print it: http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/filament/85-brassfill-filament-750g.html

For me - It gives a more realistic look. And makes the surface much smoother.

Plus I hope that this Tool http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B009SFTS88?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 will help tearing of support material, which is the hardest part on 3d printings in my optinions.

🙂

Roger

I have a dremel with all sorts of attachments. However, the best tools for removing supports (for me) are a very sharp knife and pliers.

PLA melts at a low temperature. any power tool will melt the plastic rather than but it.

OK, there are other tricks to use; the support settings within the slicer can be "tweaked" to make support removal easier - have a look at KISSlicer which I use when printing with supports. It looks confusing to start with but it will produce easily removed supports.

Sorry, but are you suggesting that brass paint looks more realistic than brass????

Hi Peter,

I have Brass PLA - for me it does not look like the brass metalic paint I used. I can send an image later... I want to achieve someting like this but in Brass optic:

.

Do you know any technology on how to get this dirt material look? I mean others than Airbrush or something like that.

kindly

Hi Roger

I do understand what you mean... However, I had great results when printing with silver and gold coloured PLA at 0.15mm layer height (or less). The finish was quite smooth after I tweaked the filament feed down to 91%. But your printer will be different. You need to calibrate the printer to get the best results. Look at the attached document.

Regarding the shield, I think you mean the "patina" - the ageing of the metal. My wife is a great one for doing this type of thing...

This can be achieved with many things from a dark wax to coffee; applied by brush and then rubbed off while still wet.

Search google; something along the lines of "how to age a metal object".

Print in BrassFill from ColorFabb, take stainless brush and polish it, paint the whole thing with black whiteboard marker, polish again and you are done 🙂
