RE:

Thanks. I custom designed all those models exactly for that scale. Using the full resolution one can get out of a 0.25 mm nozzle at 0.1 mm height. The fun parts are where I pushed beyond the resolution limits with the help of other real world limitations of the printer.

  • The needle trees on the mountain tiles are my favourites maybe. As the trees are so small and there are a lot of fully horziontal overhangs, the overhangs settle and and everything melts a bit together leading to the layer free and bushy look.
  • Another thing I used generously were Hilbert curves with zero perimeters. A lot of the landscape feature that and the ore harbour resource tile. It also hides layer lines largely at the cost of a rather coarse surface which is however perfect if coarse surfaces are exactly what you want. Hilbert curves are however truly shaking your printer apart when used at 100% infill and larger surfaces. 😉
  • Another technique I used was bi-colour layers, using the translucence of certain PLAs at thicknesses of appr. 0.1-0.3 mm. The wheat fields show that best. It is a rather nuanced effect but can add quite some dept. That is especially the case on uneven surfaces, which one can see at the sheep/whool tiles. There it is bright green below the regular grass reen.

PS: The mountain tile was one of my earlier designs so it doesn't feature hilbert curve grass. The coast however does.

@karl-herbert

wow 😍 ... very impressive prints. I am very interested in the cover box sample, to have text on a similar covers.

Just a simple question, since I am often an impatient man...:

I understood that the white box cover, is printed with a 0.1 nozzle.

- How does it took to be printed ? And what was the layer height ?

Regards
