First TPU print

Well i didn't know what was going to happen using an eBay bought no brand TPU filament. To my surprise i got it printing good from the start, well almost.
The part i designed is a mouning bush for a classic car power steering pipe. The part is no longer available so i did a quick drawing of the original with slightly altered profile to the square sholders to give the printer a chance of printing it.
During the first print i found that the route of the filament and the spool holder were causing the filament to be pulled and stretched. This ended up with the filament coming out of the side of the extruder gears. So after solving that i managed a print. After altering a few settings i have a glass like surface when its removed from the print sheet. Just need to tweek the top layer to make that better.

Life hack no 1 - where safety is our number one priority.

Don't like the glass like surface? Want a surface like the one on the PEI powder coated plate?

Heatgun.
Heat the surface slightly. You'll soon learn how much.
Rest it on a piece of relevant sandpaper. You'll soon learn what grit to use.
Tap it gently. You'll soon learn how much.
🙂

You're welcome.

It is PEI i'm printing onto, not using glass. The surface finish from the PEI into the TPU comes out like glass, very smooth which is the finish i am after.

I have been using a heated embossed plate to surface finish a TPU surfaced flat panel piece i have done. Trying to give it a leather grain effect. Almost got the process worked out
