facepalm picard bust
I love this print!
Just got done with 49h mmu print with Mystic Green PLA and Verbatim BVOH for the support interfaces. 1404 tool changes with 1 minor intervention.
I think I'm going to do a base in marble PLA. I might also do another of these in the Ziro Silver Black. Really looking forward to getting the XL so I can do this without wasting all that filament on a wipe tower.
RE: facepalm picard bust
I did a nice base for it lol. I'm printing another in mystic brown lol

Fantastic model.
Crazy large wipe tower.
I am really curious how you got the supports to come off so cleanly,
What settings did you use? What post clean up did you do?
RE: facepalm picard bust
@3dperfection
The OP indicates that Verbatim BVOH is being used for support.
This is a water-soluble filament.
Drying with a paper towel is the only post-processing.
RE: facepalm picard bust
Got it.
Thanks. I have a real issue with getting PETG supports to come off. I am move to a water soluble solution on the multihead for the XL. Just mine had come with multiple extruders.
RE: facepalm picard bust
yes, I used BVOH for this. Which has been by far the best soluble for me. Prusa only officially supports PLA + soluble, on the MMU, at least they did at the time. I mean you have to look at the temperature swings involved, like down to 195 for the soluble filament and then back to 210-215 for the main filament. I did come to an understanding with the MMU at one point and as long as I stayed within what I came to understand as it's limitations, it worked ok.
I plan to do a good deal more with the XL when it arrives(eventually). I just excised my MMU when I upgrade my two MK3S printers to MK4 recently so currently I'm unable to do these prints again.. I've debated upgrading one of them back to MMU3, but I figure(or hope) when the XL arrives I can do a lot more with soluble.
I bought a spool of Aquasys 120 originally because I wanted to do petg and higher temp filaments with solubles. This was before I knew what I was doing and what I was getting myself into. The aquasys 120 could NOT be convinced to work with the MMU given how kludgy it is. I don't expect this to have changed on the MMU3. I'm hoping to try to use that aquasys 120 up on the XL with some more ambitious combinations like TPU + A120, PETG + A120, etc. I think things like ABS/ASA might require aquasys 180, but I'll have to go back and compare the specs. I'm pretty sure bvoh won't be happy with a print when the bed is at 100+C lol
Lol we are approaching second half of oct territory and supposedly my fully assembled 5 extruder XL ordered on 11/18/2021 is due to ship during this time. fingers crossed.
Unfortunately this print fell off my shelf and broke the fingers off and I can't print another like this until the XL arrives 🙁
