Don’t let printer size limit your project!

This project was not really very fancy or artistic. It was (in my opinion) totally functional. This was a replacement automotive center console for a police interceptor purchased by my niece.  She purchased the car when it was retired, but the OEM center console had been removed and replaced in order to hold police radios and other electronics, and of course those were removed before they sold off the car; leaving a big, rather ugly gap between the seats which needed to be fixed. Luckily, she did get the Havis console that housed the electronics. That gave me the infrastructure to design a replacement center console on top of.

Final version of the console was printed on a MK3 using ASA filament (w/imbedded steel reinforcement) on a textured Prusa build plate.

More info and pictures here.

You should definitely post this on reddit under /r/functionalprint. Nicely done. She must get annoyed with everyone slowing down to 5mph below the limit when she pulls into traffic.
