3D printed ... Smart phone!
Happy to share some of the images of the stuff I've been doing at work. KiteBoard ( http://www.kiteboard.io/ ) is a small single board computer that me & my team develop. We had an intern make various 3D printable designs for concept devices - including a 3D printable smartphone. Sharing some of the prints here ! (We are close to Kickstarter; please lookup our website for additional details & video, if you're interested in building your own stuff)
Note that these were printed using the MMU upgrade. ColorFabb Olive green PLA/PHA, Corkfill & Glowfill are the various filaments used in these. Glowfill helps locate the device when it is not "pitch dark" 😀
Here is the front view of a 3D printed phone design:
Note that the design includes USB, speaker, mic, earpiece and even a 3.5 mm jack!
Breadboard friendly switches are intentionally used for power, volume up & volume down buttons... Idea is that off the shelf components can be used to make a device you need
Re: 3D printed ... Smart phone!
Back view of the device - 8 MP camera, plus a Adafruit VL53L0x distance sensor ("3D printed modular smartphone", anyone?)
Finally, back cover open shows all the electronics, antenna & wiring inside...
I am printing more devices with other color options. MMU really opens up some very good possibilities here. (Any suggestions, requests ?)
