Filament usage
Does anyone have an estimate on how many Prusa face shields can be printed with a spool of their special orange PPE filament?

RE: Filament usage

There are so many remixes of the shield, everyone will have a different answer. The easiest way to find out how much filament is used, is to see if the designer has uploaded the GCODE file, in which case that info is displayed on the web page on Prusaprinters.org. Otherwise, you could load the STL file into Prusaslicer, set your preferences for printer, filament, etc and slice it. This will tell you how much filament is used.

I have been printing shields since 19th May, but never thought to check how many shields I can get from a 1KG spool of filament, but at a guess it must be about 20, or more, I am printing the Prusa RC3 shield with integral cover. If you are making the faster printing remixes, I would not be surprised if you could get 40 or more from one spool.

It depends entirely on the part and your settings. Slice the parts and you can view how much filament is used in preview mode.

Actually I am getting 15 RC3 headbands, with integral cover, from each 1Kg spool of PETG filament on my MK3S.

RE: Filament usage

I just read on Fox News that Northwell Health is printing 3D nasal swabs.  The article said others could get the design, but I have not been able to track it down.  Does anyone know how to get this design or any other approved design?

The NIH print exchange is a good place to look for approved designs.

Like another poster, I average around 15 with a range 13-18.  I have gotten my settings down.
