RE: Elastic Bands in Canada

Hello, do you live in Canada? Which part? Was wondering so that we could print parts and donate them

@augusto

We're located in the Greater Toronto Area. We are accepting donations. Are you in the area?

You should give this a try. I've been wearing mine for days now and it's quite comfortable with no signs of degredation.

I made an adjustable strap from two pieces of 550 para-cord about 15" each. I used a double fisherman's loop (poacher's knot) at both ends and a double fisherman's bend in the middle. Don't forget to melt the ends of the 550 cord to keep it from fraying.

@estevyn

Unfortunately shipping delays rule this option out for us.

@amcdonnough

With the extremely limited supply of clear plastics we are putting all our clear plastic toward the visor section, however this might work with the off cuts. Thank you for sharing!

I'm sure there are groups in Montreal operating at a similar capacity to us. Check Facebook for Montreal 3D printing groups.

@jullrey

Thanks for sharing your idea. Unfortunately we have requests for over 800 Face Shields and this would likely be too expensive for us.

@esemze

I'm sure it would be to time consuming to tie 800 of these.

If you have spare printer capacity, I worked out a 3D printed solution that works with the Prusa-style shield frames and the popular "ear saver" print. It can work with bands or elastic to save material...

Or as a pure print solution. It rattles a bit, but I've found PETG stays together with vigorous shaking.

This looks like it could be a good option as this type of elastic is much easier to source. I'm a little worried about hair snag but we can try hair ties instead. Can you share the design?

That was a #64 office rubber band that's being used as contingency locally. They string 2 of them together with a paper clip and twist ties, so this has to be less of a snag.

I've attached rev 5.3. I'm putting together a release on PrusaPrinters and Thingiverse.

@esemze

That link I mentioned earlier for a strap buckle does NOT work with the US version of the mask, so I designed my own.
