PrusaLink cannot connect to MK3S+ after firmware upgrade

Hi all,

I have an MK3S+ printer with the MMU2S that I have used for the past 2-ish years, and controlled via PrusaLink 0.7.0 running on an RPi Zero W. Everything has been running okay, until I upgraded the printer firmware from 3.13.0 to 3.13.1 (and correspondingly upgraded the MMU2S firmware to 3.0.0). The PrusaLink complained that it can no longer connect to the RPi port, so after trying a number of things recommended on the troubleshooting pages and on this forum, I reflashed the RPi's SD card with the identical PrusaLink 0.7.0 image. During setup, the RPi connects to the WiFi and I can access the setup page, which says "Unfortunately, we can’t detect your printer on any serial port, or the printer is booting.", and under "More info" it says "/dev/ttyAMA0: [RPi] NOT USABLE ... ✘".

Some more info that can be useful:

  • I know that this isn't a bad soldering issue as I've been using the same RPi as PrusaLink for over a year now without issues
  • I have checked that the RPi port setting on the printer is ON (I have also cycled it ON -> OFF -> ON, rebooted the printer several times, and waited 15+ minutes for any changes)
  • The printer displays "RPi booting" and "Starting PrusaLink", so I believe it is at least somewhat aware of the RPi

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Alex

Thank you for your reply! I saw the 0.7.1rc1 release and just avoided it as it was marked as pre-release. Just gave it a go and it worked immediately.

Yeah it may say pre realese but unless there's lots of bug reports it's fine

During setup, the RPi connects to the WiFi and I can access the setup page, which says "Unfortunately, we can’t detect your printer on any serial port, or the printer is booting.", and under "More info" it says "/dev/ttyAMA0: [RPi] NOT USABLE ... ✘".

I'm experiencing the exact same problem symptoms... RPi connects to the WiFi and I can access the setup page, which says "Unfortunately, we can’t detect your printer on any serial port, or the printer is booting.", and under "More info" it says "/dev/ttyAMA0: [RPi] NOT USABLE ... ✘".

MK3S+ firmware is 3.14.0-8066

EINSy_10a (2024-05-22)

I just installed PrusaLink 0.8.1 on the Prusa-assembled RPi Zero W.

RE:

Actually my message does not include "…or the printer is booting." It might be a slightly newer string in PrusaLink 0.8.1.

"Unfortunately, we are unable to detect your printer on any serial port."

"/dev/ttyAMA0: [RPi] NOT USABLE ... ✘"

As mentioned above, this is a new RPi Zero I ordered from the Prusa Shop with the GPIO soldering work already complete.

RE: PrusaLink cannot connect to MK3S+ after firmware upgrade

I am experiencing a very similar error on a later release (0.8.1), and since this one is already marked as resolved, I'm filing as a new problem here

First of all if you wanna file a bug it needs to be done on github, secind before that happens try use an otg adapter to plug the printer in via usb to cjeck if its a problem with acscess via gpio (rpi port must be off when testing via usb). Or if you dont have an otg adapter  seeing as you bought it from the eshop use live chat on eshop t and talk to theme as it it could be bad soldering
