Do not upgrade to Bullseye

If you upgrade your Raspberry Pi OS to Bullseye, PrusaLink does not work.  You can plow through some errors, but I just got tired.  Can't find this,  fix it, can't find that, fix it, blah...

If you try to follow the instructions for a clean install from github, it will curse you about not finding Prusa Connect > 0.6.0.

Oh well.  Hosed my install, had to start over.  Nothing lost but uploaded gcodes, so no biggie.

RE: Do not upgrade to Bullseye

I would have suggested to first make a backup of the PrusaLink RasPi image on Buster, upgrade to Bullseye, and than copy back the PrusaLink dependencies. How much overlap is there between OctoPrint and PrusaLink? They seem to have some suggestions on their forums as well… https://community.octoprint.org/t/pios-bullseye-killed-octoprint/38790

Nothing to backup but uploaded gcodes, and a minute of config.

Such that there is promise of update real soon now, not a biggie to me.  I was bored, I use Raspberry Pi for other purposes, and just gave it a shot.

Just was giving an FYI to others who might bumble, stumble down the same path.  Bullseye doesn't solve any problems.  If you are curious, book a day or two to get it sorted out, or just let Prusa do the heavy lifting.  For me, PrusaLink as is is "good enough".  Not great, but serviceable.  Roll your own camera support, and Bob's your uncle.  Happiness.  Looking forward to the next update.

I did the same thing 😅, played around with Raspberry Pi OS after they released the update for Bullseye and broke PrusaLink.

I am using it via a USB cable connected to my Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, so I can easily switch microSD cards testing out the software. Hoping that the next beta update will address this issue among other things.

RE: Do not upgrade to Bullseye

Hi, i try to upgrade Rasbian manually - just using apt update && apt upgrade and it works. But never mind, new image release will be based on Bullseye and it works. So please stay tuned.

Thanks for the update.  Looking forward to the next drop.  I like where you seem to be heading with this.

And, if you need someone to beta the new XL, seems to me a participant in the Connect/Link beta would the perfect choice.  I do have a deposit down.  You know how to find me.
