Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2

Hi,

yesterday there was an firmware update to FW 3.1.2
Before the update the Camera was working pretty good. No Issues with WiFi connection lost, or anything else.

Now after the update,  the connection to WiFi after startup fails EVERY TIME I start the camera.
The only way to get the camera work again, is kicking it out of the coupling, press the QR-Scan button, and Re-Connect it to wifi
by scanning the QR code. Then I have a connection, until the cam gets powered off, and later again powered on.

Is there a way to downgrade the firmware?

Can I make an bug report at Git, or somewhere else?

Thx, Ralf

The Quality of the WiFi Signal is @100%, because the access point is about 1,5 meter away from the cam...

The only thing to do now is to downgrade do 3.1.0, 3.1.1 has some issues with wifi pass char.

This are the steps:

https://connect-ota.prusa3d.com/file/cam-3.1.0.tar

Rename the .tar file to cus_update_ota.tar and copy it on the sd-card.

Make sure the SD-Card is FAT32 formated.

Turn off the camera

Insert the sd-card and turn on the camera again.

Wait till the update completed.

After that remove/rename the firmware file on sd card.

Cheers!

@Pomidoor: not a joke at all, with FW 3.1.1 the Cam was fine.

Now, after 2hours of printing, no picture is available, but the green status led still blinks slowly.

Hi

I got same error after update to 3.1.2, tried with a simple password without special chars. But same issue.

My new Core One L was shiped with 3.1.0 firmware on the Buddy3d. And it connects after power cycle with no problems.

Hi,

any news regarding this? It is not nice to manually reconnect the camera every time it is powered up...

Thanks for the tip with installing older FW. Now camera doesn't disconnect, but it also doesn't support FHD and connecting to it is problematic. It seems there is much work need to done. Luckiyl I got it for free, at least :))

My camera has automatically updated to version 3.1.2 again and is offline.

How can I disable automatic updates? I can't find anything.

Or do I need to block the firewall server's hostname in the firewall? Does anyone know the hostname?

Same problem. Even when I try to restart the camera in the app, it won't reconnect to Wifi.

Sorry for the late reply,
I've tried the downgrade to 3.1.0 with the method you told.

Unfortunately, the "upgrade" is startet, initiated with the sound upgrade started, do not turn off the power, but the nothing is happening any more.
I leave the cam for several minutes working, but nothing did happen any more. The green light is always on.

Did anybody know, how long the downgrade takes? The normal upgrade is normally done in between 4-5 minutes.

Ok, found it!

my fault. I thought the sd-card was formatted with fat32. It wasn't *facepalm* it was exfat.

Now with the "right format" the up-downgrade was done successfully !!
Thanks Pomidoor for the hint!!

I've talked with support and they are currently not even aware of this issue. So fix isn't coming any time soon. We need more people to contact support.

Having the same issue. 3.1.2 totally broke Buddy3d for me. Failed wifi authentication EVERY time.

I created a simple wifi network for the buddy cam, ssid is just buddy3d and a simple password that is all lowercase or numbers and it seems to work on 3.1.2.

Whatever they updated for special characters isn't working and broke what was working.

I had a similar issue and found out that my wifi password was apparently too long (63 chars). After I changed my password to 57 chars, it started to work (50 chars worked as well, so I tried removing one char at a time to figure out the max). In all cases, they were exclusively alphanumeric.

RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2

Status for me so far:

After downgrading the camera could immediatly connect to the Wifi ....... But some time later the camera updated and the connection problem reocurred.

The Wifi password is 16 char only low letters and numbers, so no special characters no extreme length .

I did some test with the Wifi AP parameters, no luck so far and with the "old" firmware it worked  in all of my Wifi Networks (some devices  have problems in my fast meshed network for them I have a very conservative configured SSID.)

Which brings me to the last point. I thought that every Buddy cam with FW 3.1.2 should have this problem (at least after reboot) so why is the support not flooded or even aware of this issue ? So it seems that the problem we are facing here is somehow seldom and im really searching for a workaround till a hopefully new and corrected  FW is out

RE: Buddy Cam Core One Wifi connection failed after update to FW 3.1.2

Hi there. I have the exact same problem. Talked to support, super helpful guy. I mentioned it was after the latest firmware update. He wanted to be sure on problems with the signal. So we tried a lot, resetting adding again, moving closer to the router (from 3 to 1,5 meter) even used a mobile hotspot with very simple password. Then we figured out the antenna was loose. Eventually he send me a new camera.

When it arrived I installed it, worked perfect 100% signal, update..... dead again. exact same thing. So 100% sure the firmware update is the issue. I will try the downgrade with the sd card and see what happens.

So I am happy with the service and the quick replacment... but it must be the firmware.

The firmware downgrade fixed the problem.

I also had this problem, that was fixed by downgrading the firmware.

My wifi has a relatively simple SSID and password, less than 20 characters, all alpha-numeric, so that wasn't an issue for me, it just stopped connecting after the update, for seemingly no reason.

I tried disabling all the bells and whistles my AP gives me (like 5G, minimum RSSI, handover rules, etc.) My printer is within 10 feet of my AP, so it is not a signal quality issue.

Once I do the downgrade, the camera IMMEDIATELY reconnects, so my issue is definately a bug in the firmware.

The camera has already updated itself once without asking me, I hope it doesn't make a habit of that! It should stay on the old firmware until I tell it to upgrade!
