Why does PSU need to be repositioned ?
Hi all just bought a fully assembled mk4 and now an enclosure kit - the instructions say psu needs to come off printer and be fitted to enclosure brackets
even though there looks to be plenty of room for the psu to stay o the printer
can anyone explain
RE: Why does PSU need to be repositioned ?
the enclosure reduces airflow and raises the ambient temperature within the enclosed space,
the power supply is cooled by convection, there is no cooling fan.
If the PSU Remains inside the enclosure, it will cause the temperature inside the enclosure to rise faster and it is likely the temperature of the air inside the enclosure will quickly become unable to col the power supply, leading to premature failure.

Indeed, it is not about space but about heat. PSUs, especially without active cooling, suffer from higher ambient temperatures. They most likely won't fail immediately but their life span gets shorter, the warmer the environment gets during load.

RE: Why does PSU need to be repositioned ?
It would also raise the temperature in the enclosure - and that would be very bad for the electronics that do already struggle when printing stuff like Nylon in a closed enclosure.
