Noisy Prusa Enclosure

Is anyone else finding that the Prusa Enclosure is noisier than just the printer sitting on the counter? I'm finding that the top and bottom metal sheets are vibrating and it creates an echo chamber.

has anyone tried installed rubber mats or anything else to help dampen the metal sheets from vibrations? any input would be appreciated.

Solved

I bought a 18”x18” paving stone and some foam squares. The printer is now quieter in the enclosure than standalone on the counter.

I don’t have the Prusa enclosure so this suggestion may or may not be of help.

I printed and installed these squash ball feet to reduce the vibration and resonance from the wood desk my printer sits on. They work well for their intended purpose and may help with your issue in the enclosure as well.

I found it louder as well, my solution was to cut up some pieces of a yoga mat and position it in the center underneath the enclosure. It made enough of a difference that I stopped trying to make it quieter. It is still louder then when it was outside the enclosure, but everything is a trade off.

thanks for the tip. I took the foam from the box and put it under the enclose. this helped. I then put the printer in silent mode. this seems to mask the issue while printing but during calibration the box will still vibrate loudly. I have yet to go get a yoga mat from the dollar store to put between the printer and the enclosure. I'm hoping that will be the better solution. ill post here if it helps.

the printer is loud enough that I would say there marketing material is untrue. I could not find it but I read somewhere they were saying it would be quite enough to have in your office. that would a terrible idea. without the enclosure yes. but not with the enclosure. the enclosure defiantly needs something for the high frequency vibrations.

Stone under the enclosure works great.

Back to the enclosure printer a rock with some plasticine to settle it into might be enough to stop the base plate rattling at the same frequency. Obvs make sure rock placement doesn't stop the moving parts going where they need to!
