Z Calibration failure

I have had my mk3 for about 15 months. Recently had to change the hot end heater and temp. probe. My mk3 sat disassembled on my desk for about three weeks. I finally got the parts from Prusa, rebuilt the hot end with a new heater block and nozzle. I have attempted the xyz calibration a number of times. It will calibrate x and y. It will run up to the top of z, start down a small fraction, then "Calibration failed! Check the axes and run again." On the info screen it reads "Z 5.00". I have done a factory reset. I have flashed the firmware,  FW 3.8.1-2869. Y distance from min: left and right nanmm, measured skew 0.08, home point offset x and y both 0.0. Belt status x 295, y 292. Voltages power and heatbed both 23.8v. All the wiring is correct and seated in the sockets. There are no obstructions, the xyz axes all move smoothly. Except, of course, it won't calibrate z! I am at a loss in what to do.

RE: Z Calibration failure

You might have better luck getting an answer in the mk3 forum. This is the Mini forum.

Statt zu klagen, dass wir nicht alles haben, was wir wollen, sollten wir lieber dankbar sein, dass wir nicht alles bekommen, was wir verdienen.
