Y Axis Makes a Grinding Noise during SelfTest and fails.
I finished building my Mini+ Kit last night and when I ran the self test everything went smooth until it got to the Y-Axis. It found the edges of the axis (I assume) but when it was at the very end of it's travel on one side the motor would keep going and make a grinding noise. Any ideas would be great as this is my first printer and don't have experience. (Also after it failed the Y-Axis it went on to pass every other test)

I should add that I have gone through and checked the electrical connections and the screws on the motor. I am at a loss for what is wrong because the bearings also move freely on the rods.

I would check the belt tension of the Y-axis. There is a helpful tool for this: belt-tension-meter
good luck 👍

@karl-herbert
- I have tightened the belt to no avail, might this be a software issue?

If this page does not help you, I would contact the Prusachat: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/selftest-mini_112055
Just log in with your Prusa account and select the eshop. After a few seconds the chat window should appear on the lower right corner. If the chat window does not open, disable a possibly activated adblocker or try another browser.

For anyone in the future, All of my belt adjustment was maxed out and I could not pull it any tighter. I ended up cutting the belt shorter at the advice of prusachat and now my Mini is up and running!

I had this similar problem, and after going through troubleshooting, the cable connecting to the Y-Axis and heater was getting caught on the back of the Buddy Board enclosure. One cable tie later and all is well again. Just in case anyone wanted to look for that.
