Tuning Fillament

Hey Every one,

After getting the mini I was stoked en took a new spool of filament from (real Filament Dutch company)and was shocked with the bad result... 

I then when true the Prusa forum and changed everything I could find related to this issue, "pushed hotend as far up as it can go as suggested,

measured the PTFE to be the exact 43.3 cm, tuned the feeding gear to not bite down the filament. But still the same result  😕 

 

I then did what every sensible person would try and go to what you know should work, took the test filament from Prusa downloaded the nut and bold G-code from the Prusa site. start the print and look a behold Freekischly beautiful!  

 

So now the experiment/troubleshooting continues. What could be the cause that other filament with the same setting looks so bad ,

Testing done :

- Higher temp

- Slow down speed

- Lower / higher feeding rate 

- Did a comparison of the Gcode i notepad++ to look for hints that could help but no success looks identical and I'm getting tunnel vision due to all the things i have tested. can you guys help how to "tune" this filament. there this is my go to brand

here where I live. Moisture or inconsistent diameter is what's left that I could think off but moisture is doubtful this was a sealed new spool. 

PS. Printer is Stock.

Hi,

With your picture I find it hard to figure out exactly what is going on. That said, it could really be as simple as adjusting the Extrusion multiplier in the filament settings of the Prusaslicer.

There is another setting, the LA!5 adjustment for the k value. The temperature is good if there is no blobs and the filament layers stick well together. It appears that your temperature is a little on the hot side. That and perhaps the layer is too low, since your nozzle appears to be dragging some material.

If your filament makes a popping noise while it's printing, then be assured that there is moisture in the filament. You can either drybox it or you can pop it in the oven at 60º C for a few hours. Even new filament can have picked up humidity especially Petg which is highly hygroscopic.

thanks for the reply, I'm testing all I know as we speak. did the temp tower and this filament does not seems to super sensitive to too much temp change.

  

Multiplier tested to 1.3 but still same. I'm now testing with Cura to see if i get the same result on stock setting. if this is the case in the oven it will go 🙂
