Problems attaching the screen to the prusa mini+
Hello,
I received my prusa mini+ a couple of days ago and while putting it together, i noticed the screen wasnt really fitting the part on the aluminium extrusions... allowing the screen to move back and forth, no matter how tight the screw is. Even the hole for the screw is square?... which looks a bit weird. Has anyone had this problem before? is that what the screw hole is meant to look like?
How do you guys get your screen to not move back and forth? attaching a couple of images
RE: Problems attaching the screen to the prusa mini+
I had a similar problem. There were 2 screws I could have used to connect it, a 12mm and a 20mm M3. The 12mm didn't feel like it was getting any purchase and the 20mm felt like it was hitting bottom before the screen was held tight in place.
I believe some people simply applied more pressure to the 20mm and got it to thread itself deeper and hold the screen tight.
I have a stash of various sized M3 screws, so I just split the difference and used a 16mm M3 screw instead.

Not sure if this was proper, I decided the raised hex piece was preventing the wedges from locking into the base also making the screw too short. So I sanded the raised hex flat and used a longer screw. Works great.

Definitely need to use the M3x20 screw.

It's ok as is, but just curious why the raised hex? Was there an issue with the tabs on the screen mating with the indented radial arms in mount?
RE: Problems attaching the screen to the prusa mini+
I've got this same problem. The long screw is "too long" and the "short screw" is too short. :-\ I need that Goldilocks screw that is Juuuuust right. OR...if anyone has a file to print a new one with the correct mount that actually mates correctly?

+1 on the 16mm M3. Just got my Mini+ (partially assembled) today and the 20mm was impossible without brute force. 16mm and a washer is just right!
RE: Problems attaching the screen to the prusa mini+
I concur with 16mm. I had to rebuild one of the printers a few weeks ago to upgrade to the +. I too struggled till I used a different screw length.

I had som similar problems when assembling my kit, i used a 12mm to pre-cut the threads on the injectionmolded plate (i screw in a few threads, then back out and repeat until the whole 12mm was flush with the molded part.
Then i could use the 20mm screw and put the lcd in. I opted to not tighten the lcd fully so i have some sloppiness in it by choice. It stays in place but can be moved if needed.

I used the "newer" version with the 20mm screw (paper manual was outdated for this),
but added an M3 washer to not break my allen key...
It's not super tight now, but tight enough to hold it in place when I'm using it.
RE: Problems attaching the screen to the prusa mini+
Just putting mine together now, and the m3x20 was very tight with the screen assembly still very loose. Tried a m3x16 with a washer and got it installed with no issues.

I used the 20mm as directed by the instructions. But, I followed suggestions in the comments on the step and threaded the screw in as far as I could without the LCD screen first. Then removed the screw and attached the screen. It was still tight, but doable. I've done it twice now after adding the backing panel mod; still tight but it's on there and works.

Read the guide, struggled a bit with M3x20, read the comments, moved to M3x16 and that was that.

I had exactly the same problem, i'm planning to acquire a 16mm screw this week
