PLA Burning
Hi Guys, first time printer here!
I recently received my Prusa Mini + in the mail today and assembled it with relative ease, with some help.
We finally arrived at the wizard set up section, the printer flew through all the initial tests and it was time for the first layer calibration.
Loading the PLA went smoothly however when it came time to print, it went absolutely horribly. The nozzle started smoking which released an awful smell. The first 4cm of print were a burnt browny colour (was using Prusa’s Galaxy black) and after that, the PLA extruded was purely liquid plastic which has burnt / stained the print bed.
I cleaned the print bed to the best of my ability tho it’s rather ruined on one side and attempted a reprint which only resulted in the familiar smell as the nozzle began to heat up again. (I cancelled the print to prevent any further damage)
I’m rather disappointed as I paid a bit extra to get the pre put together version to try avoid any of this happening. I would be so appreciative if someone could help me out!

Start a chat session with Prusa support, it sounds like there may be an issue with your thermistor. I'm assuming when you started the calibration you selected PLA, if so your thermistor may not be accurately registering the temp and pushing it well beyond the PLA melt point.

Hi guys, thank you for your help! I got in contact with support and they believe it’s a thermistor fault and have sent me a replacement part.
In terms of the bed plate, I just mean the molten / burnt plastic has left stains and lumps which have proven very hard to remove. I was probably a bit over dramatic but I was just stressed over the fact that the printer wasn’t working and that the plate is brand new. If worse comes worse, I can always flip it over.
