New to 3d Printing - heat break too high?

Hello,

I've just assembled my printer and making some final checks before turning it on.   I recall reading about the problems with the heat break and the recommendation to have it pushed up as high as possible (only threads showing and no smooth metal surface).

Recomendations ?

thank you,

You also have to make sure that the length of the PTFE tube still fits. Here the assembly is quite well illustrated:

Hi mate,

You may check my post on this forum and my problems I encountered with brand new Prusa MINI. I hope everything is fine with yours!

To the point. Measure the distance between heatblock and heatsink. Mine is 4.8mm. According to information I got from Customer Support, it is "within an acceptable range".

Also, check you PTFE tube inside heatbreak. It supposed to be 43.4mm +/- 0.1mm. Mine are 43.1mm installed and 43.2 spare in the bag. I'm wondering what you got? 🙂 Yes, both mine are little bit too short, we will see if this 0.1-0.2mm will causing some problems.

Don't push your heatbreak higher than you have it now if your PTFE tube is correct lengt and distance is similar to mine. You probably found an old post about machine from first batch. There was real problem with short PTFE - around 41mm, so people pushed heatbreak up to compensate this.

@cichoszewski-marcin

And because I don't like this construction so much (deal with 0.1 millimeters), I equipped the mini with the well-proven E3D V6 hotend as used on the i3 models:

but that's another story...
