MINDA Probe too High? Ho much Live-Z adjustment feasible

Hi!

I just got my MINI and I have run the mesh bed leveling.
During the calibration, I saw that the probe stops and Lights up very high above the bed in comparison to the dozens of YouTube Videos of the calibration process.
After the calibration, there is the option of the Live-Z Adjustment, which I needed to extend to -1.7 mm, which seens very high.

Is this O.K. or should I reposition the MINDA probe upwards to minimize the Live-Z Adjustment?

Greetings

Jan

2 things to understand.

1..... The Live-Z number is a 'relative' number, its the gap between the bed and the Minda probe, so everyones is likely to be different as its set by the position of your Minda

2..... Repositioning your Minda up will make the gap bigger.

Set your Minda, as described with a credit card or tie wrap, then set your Z hight with live-Z, for reference my Z-hight on my smooth PEI plate for PLA filament is -1.265.

Your Z-hight will be unique to your setup

Hi Steve

thank You very much for the fast answer!
I will Reposition the Minda probe as you propose.

Best Regards

Jan, the MINDA LED is on when the probe is off. So the LED will always be lit when the probe is more that a couple of mm above the bed. When the LED goes off then the probe has detected the bed.

I notice that the lcd shows the z value during the bed calibration. Usually about 1.5 high when moving, and mostly -1.1 on bed zeroing.  It ended up that -1.1 was a good z height zero.

Is that just a coincidence, or is that reading during zeroing a clue?

Before trying to deal with this. check to see if your X axis is parallel (or close to) the bed. If not, you need to play with the screws holding that assembly to the frame.

Also check for twist.

Steps I ended up taking:

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/now-i-know-why-ive-had-so-many-problems-this-evening-x-axis-out-of-parallel/

After I did that, the calibration and minda height setting finally worked

MINDA is induction probe, it triggers 2 mm above metal surface, in this case steel sheet. If you put nozzle on the surface and set MINDA 1 mm above surface, do first layer calibration, your distance will be approx -1 mm. It is number based on when it triggers it detects metal, and firmware remembers it needs to go 1 mm further down. That's why everyone's number is different.
