How to fix this (bed not level)

Please point me in the right direction, from the beginning I have troubles with my printer and I am at the point where I am to give up on this hobby and if possible send the printer back to PR.

Before I ordered the Mini I had a printer from the east and had a lot of consistency problems bed not level uneven first layer etc I thought that moving to a Prusa meant I would loose most of these problems (I know that a 100% success rate is impossible)

from the beginning I have issues with:

I already have done the re-alignment of heat break and filament tube

- under extrusion (layers not everywhere the same especially visible in flat top layers)

- uneven extrusion with filament (highest success rate is with Prusament but not with FilamentOne, or PrimeValue or others in order to change filament I have to redo the Z calibration)

- noise from  x end stop (belt scratches the endstop leaving scrapings  and now even fibers are starting come off the belt)

- noise from y end stop / belt (there is room between the mini Y idler and front plate jammed a piece of filament between the Idler and frontplate to fix)

- textured sheet never resulted into a successful first layer (even after an other re calibration of the Z value and lower the Z 150 - to 170 lower to get the filament onto the sheet -- but the result is never the same as from the parts from PR

-

can not print on every corner of the build plate

Are my expectations too high? -- I want a printer were I just slice my design and just print - now I have to redo the Z calibration on every print (because of filament changes) and can effectively only print on the PEI sheet in center of the build plate (with certain filaments)

IMHO there are too many issues with this printer and the software for the buddy board is too young.

Is this me or is this fixable?

The results from this mod are pretty good as I see. Maybe you would like to try this.

I am waiting for the hardware store to open in order to get all the materials too.

I have it in my future updates list.

Assuming you have all or some of my described issues, are you OK with that?

We have bought a printer with a promise, and altering the printer to bring it closer to what you want is something you can also do with brands of printers... Sure we can buy 'bling' for the printer eg 'Bondtech' but I would like to see  PR would step up there game.

for example make guides how to disassemble the printer so you can swap out the X end stop and Y Idler and -- Keep in mind that I have bought a spool of Orange Prusament PETG to print replacement parts but since there are no manuals how to properly replace the parts and I have always the luck of breaking the one part I do not have spares for... I need some guidance from PR.

But the skewed bed (and no way to correct that in the software -- yet) and under extrusion on non Prusament filaments is one level deeper (construction faults) -- I know there is a global pandemic and companies shifted there vision for the time being but let us know there are people working on these issues and give us a date in the future to wait for.

I do not believe that I am the only one having these issues -- I am reading all posts in MINI forum and my guess is that everybody has the same issues so I think PR should release some dates where we can buy the MK2 parts and guides to fix these issues (I am OK with that)

my 2 cents

Hmm, I guess if a company has a 4 month waiting time for its product, it might think there is nothing it needs to do other than maintain production.

But regardless, you are preaching to the choir. We can offer tea and sympathy, but the choice of music is not ours.

Well I believe they rushed in getting the Mini out on the market. No proper testing has been performed and due to the massive amount of orders there are quality issues too. Even if its somewhat normal for this to happen its a little frustrating.

I don't have such a big alignment issue on the X axis. At the moment my biggest issue is Y - Z axis alignment. Hopefully they will make improvements to the Mini, both hardware and software. At least that's what I hope since Prusa wanted to use the Minis for his farm.

I'm very new to this as well, got my Mini a short time ago, and after running into the issue with the shorter tube in the hotend, having to tighten up my Y-axis pulley, calibrate my first layer, then adjust MINDA sensor, then recalibrate...  Now I have a bed that appears to be different heights at different spots.  How do I go about pulling a graph such as the one above?  I'm planning on getting the parts to perform the silicone tube leveling fix, but would like to know just how far off I am to start...

Thanks and sorry for the possibly easy answered question.

Install Octoprint on a compatible platform and install the bed visualizer plugin that produces the above image

I have a similar looking graph. Since this is an old post, did you happen to find a good fix for the skew?

I tried this first, but it didn't change the graph. I'm going to try this next and then the silicone tube bed level geoper2 mentioned.

@willdeed

To me it looks like this is not as much problem with the bed, but OP's gantry is not parallel to bed, XZ is tilted to the left. Loosen those 3 screws which hold XZ on Y part, and try to make this as perpendicular to Y as possible. Slowly tighten those screws while maintaining perpendicularity, you'll figure out which screws affects what and which needs to be tightened first in your case. Getting machinist screw helps.

RE: How to fix this (bed not level)

My bed was like this and I adjusted the x belt tension.  This will make the x gantry more parallel to the bed plate.  Prusa has a how to to show you how to do it.  It will only take 1/2 or 1 turn to do it.  I tightened the wrong bolt the first time and didn't see an improvement so then i loosened it back up and tightened the other one and now it works.  I am within 0.1mm across the bed now when it was tilted by 0.5 mm before.

BTW they posted how to check and fix skew on MINI 😲 That's neat! I will need to try on my rebuild MINI and see if shim is still needed. THis looks much easier that twiddling with screws and piece of aluminum can.
