first layer issue with printing

bed is level in all directions

I cannot get a good first layer with PLA.  Tried glue stick, hair spray... no dice

z offset -1.284 which seems to big .  I adjust through this test print and it never looks nice.  Tried multiple filament samples

downloaded bigger test pattern and look like below

what should i try next

It might seem that way, but it is probably not. Try going even deeper until you see an improvement.

It does look like it's bit high.

When I got my first printer and I had same struggling to get right. When you go through calibration, keep increase till you see a thin line "mild" flat. You probably have to run several calibration to get it right. See this link: https://help.prusa3d.com/article/first-layer-calibration-i3_112364

It took me at least ten attempts to reach a Z-offset that worked well with my smooth steel bed (currently -1.375) using basic Prusa filament. Even then, the little rectangular flag at the end of the first-layer calibration wasn't what I would call completely solid; it had a very even look to it though, with no lumps or openings.

RE:

Why are you using hairspray, gluestick and what not?

You shouldn't need them when printing PLA on the smooth sheet.

RE: first layer issue with printing

Like rocketArt, my Z is -1.375 and the prints are very good. I would suggest that setting and not use anything other than the smooth sheet itself. I am using Prusament PLA with all the stock settings
