Elephants Foot ??

Hi Guys

Newbies question here 😉

I have noticed a small amount of 'bulging' at the bottom of my prints recently, printing 'Generic PLA' (From Amazon), using Prucaslicer.

What is the prescribed way to attempt to fix this ?

Thanks guys

In prusaslicer look under the tab "print settings".

In the left column click on "advanced".

There you can edit the value for elephant foot compensation.

You have to be at least in advanced mode!

So measure your elephant foot and correct accordingly.

Succes!

Many ways to fix it, you can adjust your Z Offset, Live Adjust Z, Lower the M.I.N.D.A. Probe, or just change the first player calibration.

In other words, get your first layer a tiny bit higher, what helps is also lowering the temperature of first layer by few degrees.

Some people make models that have bottom part chamfered juuuust a little bit to take squish into account; new Prusa Slicer 2.2 will have this as an option.

Thanks crawlerin

I had a guess that lowering the bed temp might help, so i am trying a test as we speak with the bed dropped from 60 to 55

I will also try raising the 'Z' a tad too
