Creaking sound along x-axis?

Video (unmute for sound)

Is this sound anything to be worried about? It started happening on the x-axis, but only in one specific area. Prusa Mini is less than a week old. I can't see any visual difference in the print quality in the areas it is and is not making this sound.

It helps to have an engineers square.

It sounds like it's coming from the bearing at the end of the x-axis

Well, I found this old thread. The sound is coming from the belt rubbing up against the bearing at the end of the x axis. I can see little bits of the belt flaking off where it's rubbing. You can also see the belt turn a bit when it rubs up against the bearing and makes the noise.

Sounds like I could try loosening the face screws a turn and applying lubrication to the belt by the bearing, but I'd love to know if there are any more recent solutions for this.

Is the pinion gear on the motor adjusted right? It may be misaligned and needs to move to get the idler end to center better.

This was a pre-assembled kit, so I would think it would be aligned unless something happened during shipping. What's the best way to check?

Here's a closer look at the belt against the bearing. You can see the belt shavings where it's rubbing against the bearing. You'll see it ride up the bearing, the belt will twist slightly, then you'll hear the creak as the belt gets pulled straight and back down off the side of the bearing.

I used a square and found that the metal rods on the x axis were slightly off, as in when one was touching the square there was a slight gap with the other. Twisted them so they're even and it seems to have helped a lot. Hasn't gone away completely, but it's definitely less. I'll go through the other steps as well when I get a chance. Thanks!

Glad it helped. You definitely want to go through all the steps and verify square, level, and perpendicular to the bed as appropriate in all directions.
