constant under extrusion
Dear Prusa Forum.
I have recently received my Prusa Mini+ (thank you for the free upgrade). I am having a few issues if you can help me troubleshoot. First, on my LCD screen, there is a horizontal line of pink pixels that splits the screen, I have tried disconnecting the wires then connecting them back. I have adjusted it in a way where the wires are not pinched. Second, the printer is constantly under extruding, and the printer seems to be occasionally grinding the filament, leading to an occasional clicking noise. I assume this is due to clogging/jamming of the hot end or the extruder, so I took my time to disassembled and cleaned all the parts and tried cold pull. The cold pull seems to fix the problem temporarily. After one print, the clicking noise is back and so is the under extrusion. I have read on other threads, that this may be due to the PTFE tube being a little short. Can you help me resolve my issues?

This is the user-user support forum. For technical support under warranty, you may want to take advantage of Prusa's excellent customer support. For best response, log into the online store and contact support via the chat function. Email is normally used for ongoing troubleshooting and is not quick to respond initially.

But before you do that, the line of "pink pixels" is almost certainly the screen protector that is there to prevent damage during assembly and transit.

YES, someone mentioned it to me before too but I totally forgot, I wanted to keep the tape remaining (I'm one of those people), but as soon as I took it off I realized the pink pixel was a line on top of the tape.

may I ask you how much did you read about 3D printing before your first print?
Would be great to describe a bit more what did you print, filament type, temperatures etc.
Otherwise yuo will get generic answers like check your temperatures, nozzle etc.

With Firefox there might be problems to get into the chatroom. Try another browser like chrome and disable any adblockers.

As the others have said, email prusa for support.
The filament grinding, clogging, and underextruding is because you are not printing hot enough for the filament/speeds. Up your printing temps significantly, more than 10C. The mini has an assembly and/or design error and the temps needed are significantly under what the defaults are, sometimes even needing what's printed on the upper end of the box!

Ditto. Constant under-extrusion, and jamming, are both driving me crackers. I’ve had the printer for 72 hours, and I can’t see it lasting another 72 TBH; I’m about ready to attack it with an axe.
I'm printing with Prusament PLA, at the built-in default temps of 215/60. Using either a Mini-specific 9-square test file or the Prusa badge on the included UBS.
I've washed the bed and used about half a pint of IPA so far, but the under-extruded layers sometimes won’t stick. And getting the Z-height right has been a total PITA as a result.
But the main problem has been the under-extrusion and near constant jams - despite purging, cleaning with needles, adjusting the idler screw, cleaning out the Bowder extruder (twice), cold-pulling (about ten times) and buggering about with a needle that my eyes can barely see.
oh, and look - the bloody thing's clogged again. (Actually this shot was from 20 minutes ago - right now I’m getting the sum total of bugger and all out of the nozzle)

Just like yours my prusa mini was suffuring from major under extrusion. What you do is take out the filament in your printer and on the side of the heatsink of the hotend there should be 3 grub screws that hold in the heat break. unscrew the three grub screws( COOL DOWN YOUR PRINTER FIRST) while holding on the heater block and when the grub screws aren't holding onto the heat break anymore push the heaterblock upwards until it cant go up anymore. then (while holding the heaterblock with gentle but constant pressure going upwards) tighten the three grub screws and once you are done the heatsink and heater should stay in place.
ps. don't forget to readjust your Super P.I.N.D.A. probe!

72 hours, and things are definitely going backwards. I managed to make a pretty good Benchy, but since then my prints have got steadily worse to the point where there is now nothing coming out of the nozzle when printing. It'll purge (usually), load, unload (occasionally); I can do a cold pull just fine, with nothing there. But sod all when I start printing. I've taken the extruder apart twice, all of the PTFE tubing, and swapped the tubing in the hot end - but SOMETHING is either jamming it or causing it to misfeed. I thought that things were irritating enough on Weds when I was struggling with first layer heights and bed adhesion - I'd *love* that to be the problem now 🙁
And the little bleeder has just bitten me AGAIN. Second time in two days; much more and my hands will look like I've been fighting (again).
Now the light here is going; so another evening of peering at stuff in the gloom awaits.

Many underextrusion/clicking/jamming problems are caused by slightly incorrect extruder idler settings, usually a little tighter is the answer but with soft filaments it may be the other way.
Use a stiff paintbrush to clean out any filament debris from the extruder teeth first.

This I am confident that this video should solve your problem. I know because this was the exact problem that I had when I got my mini. The first print was fine but the ones after were under extruding like crazy to the point where the first layer wouldn't even print and when it did it looked splotchy like a pearl necklace. The Video!

I was a bit unfair earlier (perhaps used to chat sessions to support that open instantly - but which never really solve anything).
I had LOTS of time and attention from a nice chap called Guiliano. We repositioned the nozzle and heater assembly further up within the hotend heatsink (which is helping with accuracy), (reset the SPINDA height), before finding a fault with the tube from the extruder. Flipped a brass fitting around 180 degrees, and it's managing to print the Prusa badge rather well.
I still think that the olives on the tube are a little tight, I havent tried loading/unloading this filament yest, and there's probably a bit of work for me to dial in the Z-axis for that perfect first layer. But what it's doing right now looks completely acceptable - and I haven't had a jam or an under-extrusion for half an hour now 🙂

Here's a short update on my first mini+ with issues is that support walked me through checking their QC work after performing a cold pull. My heatbreak was too low. So I pushed it up. The installed PTFE tube was a hair under 43mm long and the spare in the baggy was about 0.5 mm longer, so they told me to use that one. I reset the Super Pinda height. Did 3 or 4 first layer calibrations to get it dialed in and have been printing for 3 hours with zero issues. Now on to assembling minis 2 & 3. I believe I'll be doing these QC checks on all minis from here on out. Thanksfor all of the advice. Cheers!
