calibrating first layer help

Hi everyone, I ran calibration of first layer. The hotend touched and scratched by steel sheet all over, I tried moving it up by turning the handle but it only let me move it below 0 and not above 0, which is the initial and scratching height.

I thought the whole point of this calibration was to find the correct z value. Did I misunderstand something?

PINDA is higher

I did that but since the hotend touches the bed and the PINDA is spaced a ziptie thickness away from the bed, the PINDA is higher than the hotend. Isn't that the correct configuration?

The Pinda should be a little higher than the nozzle. if the pinda is too high, the nozzle will scrape the build plate,

As you already scratched the print sheet, I think you should lower the PINDA.

If you still need help, can you post a photo of your pinda and nozzle?  When you start calibrating, post an image of the little rectangle.

Yes and no. I reassembled the extruder and got the filament through it, but it barely moves so I didn't get very far.

The reason I'm asking about the PINDA before fixing the extruder is that I thought that a print job like this first layer test would manage to get the filament all the way to the nozzle but that didn't happen, and in addition I scratched the steel sheet so I realized I have another problem.

Ahh, gotcha!

The negative value is going lower while positive value going higher. The SuperPINDA should be about 1.5mm above nozzle. Or use the zip tie (1mm??) and put it under SuperPINDA while nozzle is touching steel sheet. 

The 1.5mm is useful if you are using texture or powered coat sheet. Zip tie work well with steel sheet.

Yes, you're correct. On my first Mini+, I used zip tie, but on my second Mini+ I used the printed out tool (1.5mm).

However, there are some people in here complained about unable to get calibrated correct because they reached -2.000 limit and still not proper calibrated. So, 1.5mm fixed the problem. 

I compared my two Mini+ with zip tie and 1.5mm tool - Zip tie gave it approximately -1.650 while other Mini+ with 1.5mm adjusted at approximately -0.950.
