Filament spool inside chamber......
Has anyone successfully covered the right side of the printer and moved the filament spool so its on the inside of the print chamber rather then outside?
I'd really like a nice sheet of metal to cover the outside, secured with rivets etc, and the spool to sit on the inside of the sheet instead using the original spool holder - would it fit?
RE: Filament spool inside chamber......
You might be able to mount the right side cover 'inside out', or is this because you are short of room on the right of your printer? With it mounted inside out, the existing spool holder would work 'as is', and you could even make a longer one that might just fit a 2kg spool without interfering with the bed. You'd need to find a creative way to secure the free end of the bowden tube near to where it is in the normal setup, and perhaps do away with the side filament sensor.
This approach would add more internal volume than simply using a flat sheet, so the passive heating might be adversely affected.

Good idea - I didn't think of just reversing it. lol
However, my main reason for considering this is the right and back sides of the printer are against a wall so I can't really get to them easily - as you can see from the image below. At the moment I place a spool on a shelf above the printer (in that black spool holder). May have to stick with this for now until Prusa show us this new MMU setup.......whenever that may be!

You are looking for internal spool holder mod.

And wouldn't it be enough to swap those two printers with each other? Even with those cabinets down there? Lol

It would, but the wider cabinet sits on wheels and isn’t as sturdy as the taller one. Also I’m concerned the weight of the core one will start to bend the top panel on the cabinet with drawers, as is not designed to take so much weight. The core one sits on its current cabinet perfectly and the feet sit on the cupboards side panels so it’s quite well supported and doesn’t move at all while printing.
RE: Filament spool inside chamber......
Somehow you need to swop the side panels over. Whilst the right side spool holder panel might fit on the left, presumably the handle for the Bowden tube would be the wrong way round, and the filament detector facing the wrong way. Could they be mirror printed? Would the arm carrying the Bowden tube to the Nextruder fit on the other side?
RE: Filament spool inside chamber......
Side panels has different dimensions and can't be swapped. If you want to put the spool on the left, you can use left side panel filament mod.

I’m still waiting for my conversion kit. I assumed that Prusa would have made them interchangeable 😊

No, the printable area, and hence the heatbed, are positioned asymmetrically. This goes back to the asymmetric placement of the nozzle on the Nextruder. Hence the left side pocket is shallower than the one on the right.
