Core One reboot when I open the door..
This happened twice this morning...
Got a failed to clean the printhead error, opened the door and the printer reboots.
Have had it reboot cleaning the nozzle also.
It is a rare but odd occurrence and the door switch operates correctly.
Was an upgrade kit and running 6.3.4+10511 firmware.
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
That switch is a PITA so I decided to remove it completely. Just to realise eve after disabling the switch the printer won't even start up without the thing connected 😂
So mine is currently tied up in the wiring compartment.
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
@gb160,
The door switch is the "signal" to the Buddy controller board that it is installed in a Core One so it must (as you discovered) be present to boot Core One Firmware.
@sworcester,
The function of the door switch can be disabled in the firmware settings, however, I don't recall exactly which menu. The latest Core One Firmware (6.3.4) should default to disabled for the switch. If, with the switch function disabled, you are still having issues I would recommend contacting Prusa Support via the "chat" function. Prusa does not actively monitor these forums.
Regards,
Steve
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
I have the same problem. When I open the door. Sometimes the printer restart.
I have a lot of problems with this printer. Multiple problems and failed prints every day. This in combination with the mmu3. It is the worst printer I have ever had. Nothing of reliability.
The bambu x1c here works much faster and almost without problems. Only needed a few interventions during the last month with daily printing. And after the intervention it just continues to do so without a failed print.
That prusa core one does not. Almost after every error the print failed.
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
If the switch is functional but reboots, that is the problem isn't it?
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
I have 3 XC1s and they aren't without their problems either. Both good printers
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
Today, I had to reboot three times after opening the door. This happened every time something went wrong. But it doesn't always happen. Maybe once in every five times I open the door. This isn't my biggest problem, because after a restart, it still remembers perfectly what it was doing. I wanted to say that you're not the only one with that problem.
I've been frustrated with the Core One for a month now. I've had almost no days without something going wrong.

My understanding is the door switch is required to get some EU safety certificate, there's a resistor soldered across the switch and I guess the printer fails to start because it sees no resistance (if the switch is taken out), It's still pretty annoying having to have the switch still wired in even though its disabled.
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
I disabled the door and am not experiencing any further issues at this time.
After further investigation, it appears to be a firmware bug. See the issues on GitHub:

RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
Disabling switch in settings was first thing i did, it's totally useless (read annoying) to me, since it happens that i open the door during print to double-check, or to remove some piece of filament, debris etc... and the last thing i want is for printer to pause print just because of that.
But, yes, it must there for EU safety regulations. It is also used as printer identifier. However, even if it's disabled insettings it still functions for internal light - when printer is not printing turns off light after time. Opening door turns lights back on. So, it's not a good idea to remove it or to screw it back so it doesn't function.

It's understandable really, you can't have a machine sold as 'desktop' with the potential to burn a nosey child's fingers off without some level protection.
I've taken the switch out altogether, its coiled up in the wiring void at the back of the printer. I keep my LEDS constantly on when the printers on, more so as a reminder to switch it off as I wander past when a print has finished.
The switch gets right in the way as I've modified the tensioner housing on that side....removing it means I can switch out the tensioner housing in a few seconds.
RE: Core One reboot when I open the door..
I also had my door reset the printer ... but I believe now it turned out to be an ESD issue.
A later print started resetting randomly when it was extruding longer diagonals. Pretty consistent and repeatable across two print attempts and many power-fail recoveries the crashes induced. A search came across another thread that has many experiencing this, and those applying the lock washer fix are expressing satisfaction with the very simple fix. https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-core-one-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/core-one-crash-restart/
I just finished up adding a couple internal lock washers to the X and Y motors so the motor cases are electrically connected to the printer frame (they were electrically isolated by the powder coating). So far, no crashes. Yesterday - same print - I'd have seen a dozen or more.
