Using loudspeaker riser foam to dampen noise from printer - Would it work?
Hello,
Would using a foam riser used for loudspeaker (like the Pyle Sound Dampening Speaker Riser Foam sold on Amazon) be effective to reduce noise from a printer? It has a foam-covered wooden top to keep the surface flat.

I think this would work. I am sure it would dampen the sound a little, but silicone feet should work just as much. I would try it and post the results.

All these "putting" foam into or near enclosure is a good idea due to sound. However be careful, that foam is usually very flammable, so it can very easy catch fire from very hot parts of printer or when there something overheat.

They make non-flammable versions.

Put the printer on a stone paver or something heavy, and then the noise dampeners underneath. You want to decouple the printer movements as much as possible from any resonating surface (that's what the dampeners are for), but at the same time the printer should be as steady as possible (because otherwise acceleration changes, such as printing sharp corners, will move the printer too much which worsens print quality). Also, the heavy mass helps in dampening noise.
