I am also very satisfied with the Prusa Support. Just write to them!

@mathias720

Bondtech replaced my heatbreak so it's not a bad batch. Please write them down about the issue in order to raise its priority. I think after so many complains and information they should easily reproduce the issue and propose a fix.

I wrote to Bondtech on the form in their support site. They haven't answered yet.

May be Christmas and New Year holidays. Also may be other users do not use PLA.

I replaced the hotend with V6 titanium heatbreak and issue looks similar, inconsistent extrusions.

I left original thermistor and heater as I didn't wanted to tweak the cables. Plus I dont know wnich one schould I buy as replacement..

I replaced both the thermistor and the heater but the problem as all of you already saw did not go away. So it's may the the extruder motor ... . I received a new one but will not replace it until clog/problem happens as for now I am flawlessly non-stop printing using the original Prusa Mini heatbreak.

looks like nothing can help it..

if everything is replaced, you dont need a prusa-mini anymore... its a different machine..

holanda_3d on instagram replaced all critical parts/non-critical parts and one will never know it this is the fix..

@toz

Only thing else he changed was bearings and shaft, nothing to do with this(i also changed the bearings )

how it could be extruder motor? If the stuff doesnt happen on orginal heatbreak and extruder?

I use bmg extruder and I dont have these problems either.

From pictures it seems to be mechanical.

Stepper / lead screw (Z-axis) could be a potential root cause for this issue.

I was very tempted to replace the Z-Axis motor but:

If it was the Z-axis casing the problem then why after a filament change there is no problem at all!?! Also using Prusa Mini heatbreak also does not cause the same problem. Why !?!

maybe heatcreep? The radiator cooling fan runs only at 50% of power as far as I know

I also think it's something connected to heatcreep. Waiting for Bondtech to give us recommendations ...

i got a reply from olof (the designer of the extruder and heatbreak for mini)
"try adding high temp thermal compound to the nozzle threads, thermistor and heater cartridge. If that doesn't solve it, remove the nozzle and uncouple the bowden tube at the extruder end and feed filament through manually. If you encounter resistance it may be where the bowden is compressed by the brass fittings. If that is the case, try reaming the bowden tube with a 2 mm drill bit at the ends where they are compressed."
would anybody be able to test this, im waiting on a order of some thermal paste

RE: Strange extrusion problem using Bondtech extruder and heat break on Prusa Mini

Hi all,

Yes, I am also experiencing the same behaviors as some of you on here.  When I received my Mini back in October I swapped out the extruder with the Bondtech one and heat break as I had read a lot about the heat creep issue.

Prints started off fine using a range of filaments.  I replaced the Nozzle with a Nozzle X (probably a bad mistake) and read that you may have to raise temps slightly because of the hardened steel.  This was fine for a few weeks (on and off printing), it wasn't until the Xmas holidays that I started to see these strange extrusion issues.  I first thought there was an issue with the extruder so took that apart, cleaned it, re-aligned the gears, and tighten the grub screw, this made a small difference for a small period of time and then the problems got worse so I decided to revert to the stock Brass nozzle which again made a slight improvement.

First layer issue, prints failing and ending up with spaghetti mess.  I then printed the Vase Cubes as mention in this post and sure enough, I started getting the very same strange under/over extrusions issues.

I have emailed Bondtech on a couple of occasions and have not as yet received a reply.

I have contacted Prusa support to but when I did they were on Christmas/New Year's leave and the chat support was offline.

I may try to install the stock Mini extruder and heat break (Those of you that did, did you just go back to the stock heat break, or did you do the extruder too)?

I have just finished the 40x40x30 vase cube with the temp turned up to 225 and it's flawless...

Would be interested to find out, if and when any of you get a reply from Bondtech.

I replaced just the Bondtech heat break with the original one and no problems using 215C.  With Bondtech heat break at 225C it is OK for some time and then things become ugly again and if I am printing a real staff using 225C the result is a complete mess after some time. So with 225C it's longer OK but then when it start under extruding it's a lot worse.

My extruder is still Bondtech (I have an extra new extruder motor now but will not replace it until I see a necessity) but you may try first to replace the extruder with the original one to see if this will solve the issue.

Ah, I just replaced the nozzle, could mount the heatbreak..

So far im getting another idea how to get best of both worlds - use stock mini heatbreak without that 43mm PTFE inside, just one long PTFE from extruder to the hotend. So far it works nice, even if PTFE compresses , all you have to do is move hotend a little higher.
