RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
@jmac
🤣, I can answer that since its me and my collegues here at pear3D did the modifications.
It is special because the stepper will touch that and that has a small part taken off that way the Y axis stepper can fit correctly, and has nothing to do with the rods since those are from your original mini.
What i do not understand is this Bogdan guy responding without knowing what is he responding, i hope @bogdanh you dont take it bad but this topic is how to transform a mini to a mini-bear with strong frame and make it as a direct drive and doing as small modification as it is same slicer profile almost as the mini.
Now to @jmac again, if you mix the remixes the others have done i dont guranti it will work, the only remix that will work is the one from Tomsen the others they do remixes to win youtube likes 😀 .
If you have a particular question you can ask us at the project and we can identify which part is what.
Hope it helps
cheers
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Thanks pear3d.ch 😀
Ah good I see, i was thinking it maybe something along that lines and that's why I only printed one of the "special" type 🤣
yes my build consists of a bit of a mixture of yours and tomsons 👍
did you just use the original Y belt tensioner that is under the heated bed?
Thanks again

I think you lack the sense for humor... my comment about "special rod" was meant as a joke and @jmac understood it as such (according to his like). I have MK3S BEAR, so I have an idea what's all about 😏 .

RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Hi @bogdanh
all the printable parts are on the project under my profile at prusa printers not here in the forum but on the prints.
As for my lack of humor 🤣 i am just trying to clarify whats this topic is about, just to not misslead these guys want to build something interesting.
Enjoy & cheers mate
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
@jmac the one from original should work
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Thanks man
I printed one anyway as i was leaving the mini on all night printing the last Y parts 😆
I don't like the quality my mini+ put out for petg, once I do the full upgrade i may reprint some parts that I can see.
Y parts done on mini+ with prusa galaxy black petg and 100% solid infill 😋
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
And when you did petg on your original stock mini, did you change retraction or speeds etc or just all default settings?
Sorry for late answer jmac but i use default settings. Same after the Bear-built except for pear.3d INI-file. That was the hole point of it that you can use default settings even when Prusa releases new firmware and slicer you can install them as it still was an OEM MINI. The only difference it prints nicer 🙂
RE:
Yes, Good
I look forward to it, I must admit I do look forward to not having a cantilever design on my mini, As soon as I got it in my hands on the mini I didn't like it at all, always have to check it for square. bear design looks perfect 🙂
Question for you tomson please.
I ordered a full direct drive and hotend kit from aliexpress, I also ordered an official E motor from prusa so I could put it on it. the kit comes with all plastic printed parts so you can just attach it to the rails. what parts would i need to print for it and change as i believe it need to be mirrored for the minda probe, so it is on the left side instead of default right on the mk3s hotend?
thanks
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Hi. You should print the hole mirrored extruder. I don´t see any other way. It´s mirrored to match the same spot for bed leveling for the MINI. And i don´t want to discredit printed parts from AliExpress but i think you should do it yourself 🙂 so you know somebody actually use that perticulary revision and part. I can´t say i didn´t thrust my MINI when it was OEM design. I belive it´s the most affordable printer you can buy on the market and what is capable of. I have seen in some links their people have asked if they need to modify the MINI and somebody answer it very well: If you have to ask you propably don´t need it 🙂 But i like to modify stuff and most of the time to make them little better 🙂 I have made and modify my PC: s as long as i can remember with custom watercooling etc. And i think you have the same mindset 🙂 If so i think you gonna like your new printer to 🙂 It print better, looks better and it´s something you have put your toughts on 🙂
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Great stuff Tomson, It will be a pleasure to print it, the more stuff to print the better 🤣
Your PC modified case sounds real nice 😍
Thanks
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Thanks man :). I was little of topic sorry for that!

Hi guys
Maybe someone here knows the reason why, I was just wondering for what reason does prusa use a smooth surface idler instead of one with teeth?
would teeth not make it slightly smoother?
obviously they have a reason for this that I'm missing though! ?
idler smooth with blue arrow.
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
One reason can be that you can have bigger bearing with same diameter. I believe Nero3dp mentioned that with the Voron 0,1 and they change to smooth to get bigger bearings. The MINI is never going to have that speed obviously but may have longer life. Can be wrong, it also can be about cost. It you want something in production you don´t spent pennys on something if it´s not big difference.
RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
Thanks @Tomson
I think I will get a some just to try, because why not 😀
They are cheap anyway..

Think it that way: teeth are there, so belt can grip on something (obviously) to move the bed. That is, grip gives the needed resistance -without resistance, belt would slip (obviously, again). Wait.. resistance? Exactly: to make less resistance (more smooth), we need to get rid of teeth.

RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s
So maybe i will put a motorcycle chain on it 🤣 🤣
