Hi,

is the part "extruder_body" the once which need to be modified for the pinda probe to fit on this mod? I don't see that the parts have to be mirrored as a modification, since it can be done quite easily in the slicer. The way I've seen it with the makes, you actually want the Bear extruder because it has the right belt path. In the pictures you can clearly see that the belts do not run parallel to each other but converge towards the extruder.
Would love to hear your opinions on this.

Hi. I´m not shore which stl you referring to, mine and pear3D:s stl is mirrored. It was a long time ago i built mine and i later made the hurricane. But i think i change the beltpath alittle for the "freeside" to have more clearence on that model.   You have right it´s not 100% parallel but i never have an issue with that. /Tomson

Hi again 🙂  About the Bear extruder, I never tried the bearmodel but i´m shore it´s good. Grégoire Saunier did a great job on the rest. But i built my Mk3s with the Bondtech LGX with a Mosquito and i love to see someone made a G-code for that to the MINI Bear 🙂 I can cad and built mechanical parts but i´m terrible when it´s coming to any software. It´s the best toolhead i ever tried. /Tomson

RE:

Hi @snarius,

I don't have the exact mod, as I don't use the regular extruder with the built in filament sensor (I have a sherpa, and used reverse bowden setup - I have the stock sensor + housing attached to the bowden tube), but you could always just cut and extend the cables 🙂. I know it may not look excellent, but it works. I also try to avoid cutting cables, but at some point it's way easier to do that than tryin other things.

This is my current setup.

Hi,

I based my mod on Bear EXXA. I did not do any changes on the PINDA placement except mirroring it, it worked fine 🙂

Hey Tomson,

I remeber talking to you about adding klipper to the Mini. I finally did it and works great!

No display though, I think it can be done with the stock one + some work - others have done it. You could also use a RPI screen + KlipperScreen if you want. I don't seem to need it though, I control it from my pc/phone; I use Mainsail OS as a frontend.

I can reliably (high quality) print at 100mm/s with 3500mm/s^2 accel, I can push it to 160/4500 but anything past that I get layer shifts - this can probably be addressed by tweaking the sensorless homing threshold + current increase to the steppers, but 100 (regular) / 150 (top) @3500-4000 is plenty for me. I also have a Revo, which is standard flow - so it does not make much sense pushing it that far.

You could probably easy reach same speeds on stock FW (maybe faster if everything is well aligned/you have smooth motion), but Input Shaper (resonance compensation) is great! I get better prints at those speeds than on stock FW + increased speed (but nowhere near those accel).

If interested, I can share my config, although is mostly the stock one from klipper github for Prusa Mini (+some changes for my extruder setup, and some minor tweaks)

RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s

Hi Adrian. Yes we talked about it before. I have 2 Voron V 0.1 with Mainsail and Klipper and they are nice to work with the pc as the screen and i don't feel i need any other screen for them. But i have the Prusas for easy run  plug and  play and the Voron more as project/prototype if that make sense. So i don't want to change that to the Prusas. But Thanks anyway 😁🙏  And bec. i'm terrible at coding/software i think it's for the best 😎😁

Yeah, I know. While it was fun and it yielded some great results, it's still a project (the bear mod) that requires time and money :). I think we can all agree that it does not make financial sense to do it, unless you like doing it:)). Prusa Mini is great printer in stock form, anything else is either passion or waste of money:))

Adding klipper (rasp pi) on top is extra waste:)), but still nice in the end.

Also, I backed Bambu Lab (X1 Carbon), can't wait for it to get here and see what's that about:). I planned (and preordered a LDO kit) to build a Voron 2.4, but after I found out about Bambu Lab, I cancelled that.

Once it gets here, I can offer feedback to anyone interested.

The funny thing is that I think I spent more money on Prusa Mini + mods/bearings/etc than the price of Bambulab / Voron (Formbot not LDO, which is considerably more expensive)

Hi Adrian,

thus theoretical the Bear Exxa is usable on the Mini Bear. I´ve  just mirror all the files?

RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s

You have absolutly right. The MINI is a great printer as it is. Of course the Bear model is better but don't justify the extra money just for that. But i don't think it is so many modding their printer just for that. Me and i think the most of us do it bec. of the passion we have for this hobby.

Hi, I've built my prusa mini bear and I need replacement motor for x and y, I'd like to avoid prusa shop $$$ if possible but can't seem to find suitable replacement. I'm not really knowledgeable with motors, any recommendation?

RE:

I'm also diving into this project, just for the fun of it, and for a more stable x-arm.
It will be a slow project, collecting all the parts slowly.
I have just printed most of the parts, except for the extruder, not sure which one i'll use. I have a bondtech gear set, so i might as well go for the MK3 one (mirrored).

My only worry is that, since this is my only printer, i might forget to print a part and not being able to print it. Although i have found a place where i can print parts, as long as they don't take too many hours.

I have one question though: Since the extruder is 2 LMU8's wide, do i need longer (x) rods?

Hi Rinkel. Both yes and no. Too fill it up full yes you cut MK3 rods (believe it was 300mm but don´t cut until you shore bec. it was along time ago) bec they are between the MINI and the Mk3 but my first MINI-Bear is with OEM rods and i just printed ithink it was 10mm cylinder to fill it out. I belive i gave jmac the same mod maybe he remember the exact length. So if you want you can still use the OEM rods/Tomson

RE: Prusa Bear Mini Mk3s

Thanks both!
I meant the Mini (x) rods.

But is the x-axis still 18cm? Seems like the carriage can move less when it's wider.
